AI is confirmed to be used in the workflows in the QA and QV department at Maxis. It is important to note that the employees almost certainly don't have a choice about whether or not they use it. The tomatos are always aimed at EA!
Sims Discord Q&A on Quality Assurance is mad. No answers on AI usage in QA (was reported to be 85% by Andrew Wilson), just defending it seems

As far as I understand, it’s not generative AI, so why is it bad? I’m not being shady, I genuinely just wanna understand

Still disastrous for the environment, takes jobs away from otherwise employed QA devs, risk of machine error whihc can often take longer to resolve than human error

AI has been used since the 50s. If the Sims didn’t use AI all the characters would freeze in place and we’d have to command every single action. They’ve always used AI ever since the first game

Those are valid things, but they’re not automatic consequences of “AI in QA.” Environmental cost depends on the system and scale, and automation can remove repetitive testing without necessarily eliminating QA jobs.

They’re using it in 85% of QA testing. 85% of the work that was being done before with human hands. To think that doesn’t cost jobs is naive.
