(1) BREAKING: Christian social worker seeks legal history in Court of Appeal fight against viewpoint discrimination Tomorrow, a Christian social worker who won a landmark freedom of speech case at the Court of Appeal in 2019 will return to the same court in what is believed to be the first time an individual has fought two separate Court of Appeal cases arising from professional penalties imposed because of the expression of Christian beliefs. Felix Ngole, who has been supported by the Christian Legal Centre since 2014, is a qualified social worker, will appear before the Court of Appeal from 10am on Monday 28 September, with the hearing continuing on Tuesday 29 September 2026. Felix will be able for interview from 9.00am and there will be a visual display from supporters outside the Royal Courts of Justice. The hearing is the latest stage in a long-running legal battle after mental health charity Touchstone Leeds withdrew a conditional offer of employment when it discovered online reports of Mr Ngole’s Christian beliefs on marriage and sexuality. The case, supported by the Christian Legal Centre, has major implications for freedom of belief in the workplace. At its heart is a simple principle: no Christian, or indeed anybody, should lose a career or a job opportunity because of lawful beliefs expressed outside work. 🚨 BREAKING: A family at the centre of a tragic end-of-life case has called on rehabilitation consultant, Professor Lynne Turner-Stokes, to step aside from directing the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment in a major brain injury case, while the Supreme Court prepares to examine her role in the controversial death of Robert Barnor. Professor Turner-Stokes advised the Hospital to stop Mr Barnor’s dialysis – and thus end his life – by a unilateral ‘clinical decision’, without his family’s agreement and without seeking permission from the Court of Protection. Just before Mr Barnor’s death, three Court of Appeal judges ruled that, contrary to Turner-Stokes’s advice, life-sustaining treatment cannot be lawfully withdrawn without a decision of the court. However, that ruling came too late to save Mr Barnor’s life. Professor Turner-Stokes is the NHS’s National Clinical Lead for prolonged disorders of consciousness and the director of the Regional Hyperacute Rehabilitation Unit (RHRU) at Northwick Park Hospital in North London. She is now due to take charge of the end-of-life care in another controversial case, where a High Court judge, Mr Justice McKendrick, recently ordered to withdraw food and fluids from a 28-year-old man suffering from a disorder of consciousness following a brain injury 6.5 years ago, overruling the unanimous opinion of his family and all treating clinicians that it was in the man’s best interests to continue treatment. FHR’s family, continues to pursue an appeal against a ruling ordering his death by dehydration and starvation. His mother, known only as 'FN', said: “My son and his entire family are treated by the NHS North East London ICB with unbelievable cruelty. I feel like I am living a nightmare. My son might or might not have eventually recovered from his brain injury, but for almost five years, he was stable and happy living at home surrounded by his family and a team of nurses and carers who know and love him. “The Court of Protection is supposed to protect vulnerable people from cruelty and harm. In reality, every step of the way, the Court has rubber-stamped every order the ICB has requested to harm my vulnerable child and eventually to end his life.” Andrea Williams, chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre, which is supporting the family, said: “No doctor facing unresolved questions over one disputed death should be directing the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment in another case. Andrea Williams, chief executive of the Christian Legal Centre, said: “The evidence of Bethany Hutchison and Jennifer Melle will show why Sandie Peggie’s case matters to nurses across the country. “Jennifer has now been completely vindicated. The NHS trust abandoned its disciplinary case against her, reinstated her and the NMC concluded that there was no case for her to answer. The regulator found that she posed no risk to the public, that there was no evidence of a confidentiality breach and that the pronoun incident arose from her protected Christian beliefs rather than any malicious intent. “Yet Jennifer was still forced to endure disciplinary and regulatory proceedings which threatened her career and livelihood. When she turned to the professional body to which she had paid membership fees for 12 years, she says she was left feeling abandoned. “Bethany and the Darlington nurses have likewise had to fight for the basic privacy, dignity and safety of women at work, while seeking meaningful support from the RCN. “These are dedicated and compassionate nurses who expected their professional body to defend them without fear or favour. Their experiences raise serious questions about whether the RCN has placed adherence to gender identity ideology above its duty to represent members who hold entirely lawful and protected beliefs. “A trade union should not abandon members because their understanding of sex and the human body conflicts with a fashionable institutional orthodoxy. Nor should nurses be required to deny biological reality, surrender their privacy or compromise their Christian beliefs to remain within the profession they love. “This case is an opportunity to establish that professional bodies must represent all their members fairly. 🚨BREAKING: Darlington nurse, Bethany Hutchison and nurse Jennifer Melle are set to give evidence in support of Sandie Peggie's case against the Royal College of Nursing. The case begins in Dundee tomorrow. Sandie, an RCN member for around 30 years, alleges that the world’s largest nursing union discriminated against her because of her gender-critical beliefs by failing to provide adequate advice, support or legal representation after NHS Fife suspended her for objecting to a transgender doctor using a female changing room. Bethany and Jennifer will give evidence about their own experiences of seeking support from the RCN. Sandie said: “I never wanted to be in a position where I was suing my own trade union.
