“One year ago today, CENTCOM created the Rapid Employment Joint Task Force (REJTF) to equip our warfighters with cutting-edge technology. They immediately established the U.S. military’s first one-way attack drone squadron in the Middle East and launched the first aerial attack drone from a U.S. Navy warship. The task force made history in June when an unmanned surface vessel assisted the rescue of a downed helicopter crew in regional waters, and in July when CENTCOM employed a one-way-attack unmanned surface vessel for the first time in combat. The REJTF team is now developing the world’s first multinational attack drone unit, building on the incredible milestones achieved over the past 52 weeks.
