Kavuma-McQueen is building towards becoming the archetypal modern wide forward, whose biggest strengths are his close control, precision in all actions, powerful ball-striking and tireless work rate going both ways. A really exciting surprise has been just how impressive he's been physically: instantly comfortable at Championship level both in terms of speed but also upper body strength, so important for a winger. A seven-year-old Ryan was snapped up by Chelsea and has continued to excel at levels above his age group, including playing for the U18s at 15, and making his first-team debut in the FA Cup vs Port Vale last season. Playing in the Championship this season, he looks more than comfortable at the level, getting plenty of minutes, being one of Pompey's brightest sparks and scoring on his debut to become the youngest player to score for the club according to Opta records. He logged TEN shots in their last game before the international break - that is absolutely crazy for a 17 year-old wide forward! Although his numbers for Chelsea's youth teams are impressive, it's his output as a Young Lion that has really caught the eye. Nine goals in six games for England's U15s, nine goals in 13 for the U16s and eight goals in six for the U17s, including four in one game vs Germany, where he also got an assist in England's mad 7-5 victory. These performances have earned him a call-up to the U18s, where he'll be playing under new head coach Darren Moore during this international break.
