In this study we aim to gather grandparents’ views about their grandchildren (e.g., similarities / contrasts in values) and explore these across different cultural contexts.
To take part: tinyurl.com/tk63h2zs
ALT We are looking for Grandparents! As family psychologists (from the Universities of Cambridge and Sussex), we are interested in grandparents' views and feelings about grandparenting. To explore potential cultural differences, our study will include 4 sites: UK, Italy, Hong Kong and Taiwan. You are invited to take part if you are a UK-based grandparent with at least one grandchild aged 4-10 years. Taking part involves an online interview (which can be quite short if you are happy to answer some questions via a digital survey). You will receive £10 as a thank you for your participation.
Grandparents play an important role in children’s lives, but existing studies rarely go beyond hours of contact.
So far, we have interviewed 50+ grandparents in Italy (online or by phone) and so we know that taking part is enjoyable - we do hope you’re interested!
Our final CAFR seminar for 2026-27 is coming up next week:

Some babies have a tougher start in life. One in three babies admitted to neonatal intensive care will fail their school readiness assessment at age five, with consequences lasting into adulthood.
Our new project will identify babies at greatest risk & give them a helping hand.

Babies’ Longitudinal Outcomes, Omics and Milestones Study (BLOOMS) will be one of the flagship programmes inside the Cambridge Children's Research Institute at the planned new Cambridge Children's Hospital.
