On September 21, 2007, Emily Elizabeth Haddock was taking the day off from school to recover from strep throat. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers were knocking on doors in the neighborhood, pretending to need directions. If no one came to the door of a home, the young men would enter and burglarize it. When they arrived at Emily's house, she was in a back room, working on a puzzle. Michael Currie and his associates broke in and discovered the 12-year-old girl home alone, so they shot her in the mouth and the back of the head. Emily's grandfather found her lifeless body when he came to check in on her.

What kind of father does that?
Crashing waves. Chaos. A child struggling in the water, while his own father boards the boat rather than staying to protect him.
I believe scenes like this expose the failures surrounding these crossings, from the charities involved, to the actions of the French authorities, to the decisions being made by the British Government.
People are becoming increasingly angry about what they are seeing.
I genuinely fear that if confidence in the authorities continues to collapse, some people will eventually try to take matters into their own hands.
To be absolutely clear, I am not condoning, encouraging or supporting violence in any way, shape or form.

Catherine Corless did not uncover hundreds of death. She discovered a discrepancy between the deaths recorded and burial records. The govt sanctioned report said the following.
The status of the Tuam home was ‘irregular.’ The irregularity arose because Tuam was owned by the local authority but the staff (the nuns) were not directly employed by the local authority. (at 15.16).
The govt sanctioned report says “The key decisions relating to it were taken by the Galway Board of Health which was composed of members of Galway County Council. The County Homes and Home Assistance Committee (CHHAC), which was a sub-committee of the Board of Health that included non-council members, was also involved in decisions. The Board of Health and the CHHAC held a number of meetings in the Tuam home. There is evidence that they visited it on several occasions. Local authority records mention a visiting committee but the Commission does not have further information about this.” (15.13)
