A call to my fellow Portlanders...
A few years ago, inspired by the excellent/gaudy Christmas display put on every year by Terrance (if you live in NoPo, you know who/what house I'm talking about), I decided to start doing something similar at my house for Halloween. While Halloween was never much of an event in my neighborhood anyway, it seemed like the pandemic killed it off for good. So I started buying inflatables and making a little display, which has grown a bit over the last few years.
Last year, I noticed families would drive by, stop and look around for a bit before going on their way. Also even though there was a home Blazers game and I had to work, I still had families coming by when I got home, nearly to midnight. I also noticed most of those groups were single moms driving their kids around, presumably because they got off work late but still wanted to provide their kids a good Halloween. It was really heartening to be able to do something that maybe helped some kids have a better holiday. I did it for them, but it was also the best I had felt in a while.
So my plan after seeing a really strong response was to go harder this year. I live on a corner lot so the idea was to flank the entire house with inflatables, projectors and other Halloween lawn decorations, really make it a destination. And I've got time to do it now! But things are much tighter now than they were then, though I can still manage to buy a lot of candy and triple my electricity bill for one month. However, even though they're relatively inexpensive, I'm not in a position to buy more inflatables and the necessary electrical accessories to run them.
So if you have any Halloween lawn decor that you no longer use, especially inflatables, and wouldn't mind loaning them out for a month or so, send me a DM. Same goes if you have any of those outdoor surge protectors or extension cords. I'll do the pickup and will make sure to get everything back to you once the holiday is over. My goal is to have it up and running a few weeks before Halloween so trying to get a jump on it now. Lemme know! Thanks!

1) I would not paint an entire team/fanbase by one person’s actions. Every team, every fanbase has some morons, no one is immune.
2) It’s a game that is so popular in part due to its violence, if you’re a fan you have to take some responsibility for that. You can’t just blame the players and wash your hands.
Not great? Classless. Deplorable. Trashy. Also, reflective of that team, its culture and its fan base. #goducks

It’s a physical, often violent game, unfortunately those kind of hits are going to happen. But showing not even a little remorse afterward is… not great.
