Last weekend, the Cleveland Guardians hosted a MLB Pitch, Hit, & Run (PHR) regional competition at Progressive Field. These young athletes traveled to downtown Cleveland from all over Northeast Ohio for a chance to compete in the MLB PHR World Series which will be held in late October during the 2026 MLB World Series. An unforgettable experience for our inaugural class of Guardians G.R.I.T. Certified coaches. We invited six local youth baseball coaches who have completed the series of training courses included in the Guardians G.R.I.T curriculum to Progressive Field to watch batting practice, take part in an exclusive training session with Guardians Baseball Operations teammates, and be recognized with an on-field presentation. Last week, we had the honor of hosting our August Guardians of the Community: Ebonie Randle and Nick Nowak of Shalom and Tranquility Community Garden.   Since founding the garden in 2020, Ebonie and Nick have transformed vacant lots in Cleveland’s Brooklyn Centre neighborhood into welcoming spaces where neighbors can access fresh food, connect with one another, and grow together.   From community meals and service days to youth literacy programs, yoga, beekeeping, art, movie nights and more, Shalom and Tranquility is cultivating so much more than fruits and vegetables.   Thank you, Ebonie and Nick, for helping build a healthier, stronger, and more connected community!
