U.S. economic security priorities are shifting fast, and few institutions have the tools to keep pace. This October 14-15, CSIS Executive Education is offering a two-day course for government, policy, and industry professionals looking to get a better understanding of what's driving U.S. economic security priorities right now, and how to navigate them.

President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet for a second time this year in late September in Washington. Central to the gathering will be a number of economic security issues: trade and macroeconomic imbalances, industrial policy, foreign investment, supply-chain resilience, clean-tech and energy markets, cybersecurity, dual-use technologies, and, of course, artificial intelligence.
Trustee Chair Scott Kennedy will moderate the discussion to understand how these issues played out at the summit and are likely to evolve in the coming months. In 2020, the Trustee Chair published the first iteration of “Not Number One,” which provided global rankings of the United States and China covering a wide array of metrics. The conclusion: neither country were anywhere near number one.
