Grade Fire – Cuesta Grade You may have received a Wireless Emergency Alert from the County of San Luis Obispo. Fire crews are responding to the Grade Fire east of Highway 101 on the Cuesta Grade, north of San Luis Obispo. An evacuation order is in effect for an area east of Highway 101. The Grade Fire is not impacting the Cal Poly campus at this time. Cal Poly Emergency Management is monitoring the incident. Traffic: Northbound Highway 101 is experiencing significant traffic impacts through the Cuesta Grade due to emergency response operations. Travelers should expect delays. Alternate Route: Travelers who need to reach the Paso Robles/North County area may use Highway 1 north through Morro Bay and Highway 46 east to reconnect with Highway 101. This is a significant detour; allow additional travel time. Updates will be provided if conditions affecting Cal Poly change.

SIREN TEST | Saturday, Aug. 22: SLO County will conduct its annual Early Warning System siren test tomorrow. All 130 sirens will sound at 12:00 PM and again at 12:30 PM for approximately 3 minutes. This is only a test. No action is required. More info: ReadySLO.org

You can never be too safe or prepared in the case of an emergency. Familiarize yourself with the Cal Poly safety plans. Students should keep essentials like water, non-perishable food, flashlights, warm clothing, medications, and some cash on hand.
