Talking about Dune and other movies that I love 🪐 📧: calderdune@gmail.com

Andor Season 2 Ep1-3 thoughts! Poor Mon Mothma, POOR BIX, and poor Syril for having to put up with his mother. My least favorite arc so far but still very strong, and built some groundwork that should be incredibly exciting!

Andor Episodes 11-12 thoughts, season 1 is finished! Absolutely incredible season of TV, using the backdrop of the Star Wars world to tell a timeless and important story. Mon Mothma has my heart, I love that Cassian is radicalized, and I HATE Syril’s mom hahaha

Tanya Lapointe just shared some images from the upcoming “Art & Soul of Dune: Part Three”. LOOK AT THIS SHOT OF ALIA!! Also, the text under the image of Farok is titled “Fremen Interplanetary Army”.

Chloe Zhao is one of the few names that keeps coming to my mind. Her sensibilities and human approach to filmmaking excites me, and I think if she was working with an IP under a less restrictive studio (Eternals) she would knock it out of the park. Also, she LOVES Dune and Denis.

Just curious, since DV's part of adapting this incredible source material coming to an end, is there any directors you would hope to give it a try?

Im trying to enjoy the feeling that something is coming, one last time. Like ripples in the sand before a worm, the Dune Part Three vibrations are really starting to hit me. It’s going to be incredibly bitter sweet, so I’m trying my best to soak in these final moments of wormsign

Andor Episodes 7-10 (One Way Out) thoughts. Easily my favorite arc so far, Andy Serkis and Diego Luna just made me emotionally invested in Star Wars for the first time ever. Genuinely incredible television, Andor just continues to get better.

Doctor Doom is the scariest villain we have seen from Marvel, because he feels like the manifestation of generative Al in our culture. He is the artificial solution created by focus groups and board rooms in how to solve the storytelling problem within Marvels headquarters.

In an infinitely ironic move, marvel has ended up emulating the spirit of their biggest villain ever created in Thanos, by going back to Endgame to bend reality to their will and to fulfill their selfish desires.

Andor episodes 4-6 (The Eye) thoughts! This feels like Star Wars at its best, telling a grounded but profound story with the rebels while flexing the scifi muscles with the visuals in The Eye. This is exactly what Star Wars should be. GET POLITICAL GET NEMIK.

Andor Episodes 1-3 thoughts! I’ll be posting a video every 3 episodes, to share my thoughts/predictions, and it should be fun to look back on at the end! I immediately fell in love with this show, from the second Cassian blasted a corpo in the street.

“And Paul saw how futile were any efforts of his to change any smallest bit of this. He had thought to oppose the jihad within himself, but the jihad would be. His legions would rage out from Arrakis even without him. They needed only the legend he already had become.” - Frank H

On the topic of Scytale's face dancing, I think we will be shown the full thing early on to establish the mechanics of it, but most of the time Scytale actually shifts forms it'll be done "off-screen". This moment in the trailer cuts right before he passes behind someone, and

I am guessing that the shapeshifting will happen quickly. Knowing Denis and his tendency for subtlety, I think most of the form-changes will happen behind an obstruction and simply leave more up to interpretation than close-up VFX of a face twisting around.

I finally started ANDOR last night with episodes 1-3. I mostly stay away from Star Wars media, but I’ve only ever heard great things. So far, I’m already in love with this. Great writing, I can see the ground work they are laying and I can’t wait to see the payoff.

Quick thoughts: had no idea Adria Arjona was in this. The corpo guy we are following looks exactly like Kyle MacLachlan. Cassian is super interesting already, I love how they’re weaving in his backstory and hatred for Empire from an early age.

Finally sharing my thoughts on Dune: Prophecy. It’s a safe, sterile, yet somewhat interesting show. The early creative decisions and development took away any chance of this having much of its own identity, in favor of it “feeling like the Denis films”.
