From "Revitalize or Die", true vision.
"Here’s a thought, instead of just complaining about everything that’s wrong in town, what if we created a community punch list, an ongoing, public list of things that need fixed, cleaned, planted, painted, picked up, or otherwise improved?
Not a place to vent. Not a dumping ground for “someone should do something about this” energy.
A useful list.
Because here’s the truth: people still want to be involved, they just don’t know how.
We’ve made it so hard to go from “I wish I could help” to actually helping. It usually involves 29 committee meetings, an application, a background check, and a binder.
But sometimes people just want to get busy, get sweaty, and make something better.
This list would remove all the steps between noticing the problem and fixing the problem.
If you’ve got something that needs attention, post it.
If you’ve got an hour, a shovel, a brush, a drill, or just some basic competence, find something on the list and knock it out.
Leave one, take one.
Snap a photo when it’s done.
Mark it off the list.
That’s it. Simple. Civic."
Because all this energy we spend pointing out the obvious?
It’s not helping. But it could.
