It is going for more than 60,000 feet this week. It has never recovered either of the earlier rockets. 💥 Oronos Polytechnique destroyed its first liquid engine in a June static fire. “We thought it would work,” said Patrick Zvezdin. “It did not work.” ⚙️ Western University built a machine to spin-cast hybrid fuel grains on a budget of about $1,600 — at a university with no aerospace program. 🧠 And McGill’s team works under a rule no engineering fixes: one engine failure and the university closes its test site. 🚀 Canada's spaceport just turned its first operating profit. It came from rent, not rockets. Maritime Launch Services earned $5.6 million in revenue and $3.2 million in net income in the second quarter, against nothing a year earlier. The money came from a 10-year lease worth $20 million a year that the Department of National Defence signed in March for a dedicated pad at Spaceport Nova Scotia. 🏗️ That is the model working as designed. 🌍 The tenants arriving now are mostly international. 🔗 A Canadian thread worth noting: MDA Space paid $10 million for a stake last November and holds a board seat. ⚠️ One number to keep in view: almost 99% of spaceport revenue still comes from DND. 📈 Shares closed at 43 cents on Aug. 14, roughly five times their price a year earlier.
