Yes, we know Sony invented the Discman before Apple invented the iPod. Microsoft the Tablet PC before Apple did the iPad. Same with smartphones. Seriously, NOBODY CARES who did what first if they still lost 🤷🏻‍♂️.. Being first doesn’t mean being better. 😉

How it started vs how it’s going. The top photo was taken in Hong Kong with a 3D print of an early Communicator form factor study. We were carrying it around to judge the size and get a feel for how it might fit into our lives. The small white paper strip was a makeshift concept for an LED light that wrapped around the top edge of the phone so you could see it from all angles (before we came up with the Signal Light). The bottom photo was taken this week, in the exact same spot but with a working Communicator. Amazing to see it come to life from idea to reality. 🤩

Capped off my Berlin visit with a @clickskeyboard catch-up, and picked up the latest Communicator prototype for internal testing! Still much work to be done - none of these UI elements are final - but it's great to see the shortcut keys already functioning, and nearly the full range of "kill switch" options programmed. Custom Niagara build is coming together nicely too. Keyboard still being tuned (and I'm rusty!) so my wpm score is low, but check out that accuracy 🔥 More to share soon!

Lots of articles lately about BlackBerry being “back” — the stock is up 130% YoY — while phones with real buttons are getting REAL attention and interest again.
