If anything the “Beareans” disproves Sola Scriptura & affirms the requirement of Authoritative teaching/Magisterial guidance as with Philip & the Eunuch also in Acts….
It basically affirms the Catholic approach - which is that Oral Teachings of the Apostolic Tradition cannot conflict with Scripture but do not need to be directly found in Scripture - see Road to Emmaus - Christ revealed New teaching that could only be found in OT after Oral guidance - not prior…..

The way people like @needGod_net use Scripture is deeply problematic. Your interpretation is NOT a universal Truth. Watch my response below 👇
Ryan’s go-to move has always been to keep the argument strictly on Scripture, where his own interpretation becomes the controlling authority. But asserting an interpretation DOES NOT establish it.
If his reading were the obvious Christian understanding of Scripture, we should expect to find it in the historic Church. St. Ephrem (Nisibene Hymns 27:8), St. Augustine (De natura et gratia 36.42), and even Luther all agreed.
So even if we grant Ryan his "inference" (which is massively incorrect but for the sake of argument) we are still left with this fact: for more than 1,800 years, no major Christian thinker interpreted the text the way he does.

Fitting that he has a picture of a cat (because he is acting like a 🐈⬛) as he denies doing a debate with me. QP two of my comments today and we disagree then when I say we can have a fair moderated debate on a show that is well respected he backs out.
Yeah… cause I totally believe you would speak in fairness… especially as you want me to have the debate on a Catholic show.
Especially as debates really don’t do anything to expose truth. But are used to farm clips for people to say “you owned him.”

I asked this Catholic: If you simply read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, would you come away believing that Mary was sinlessly perfect?

Been going back and forth with @mikeproverbs10 which I am happy to do. Now, I am a father, husband, theology teacher, catechist, adjunct History professor so I am vey very busy. I offer to have @Sacramentshow host a scheduled debate that is moderated and fair and he just dodges and wants to continue arguing here and then says I am "running away". No, YOU are clearly running away. You are just not an honest man and I am sorry that you feel this way.

Before we get to St. Joseph as a model of Christian fatherhood, I feel we should first consider the Patriarch Joseph. While primarily a type of Christ, Joseph from Genesis also gives us a biblical pattern that helps us understand St. Joseph.
He is betrayed, sold into slavery, falsely accused of a grave crime. And yet he never allows suffering to excuse unfaithfulness, bitterness, or vice. He remains chaste, humble, responsible, and faithful.
Been thinking a lot about both Josephs lately. Curious what you think, @riecker.

Bible Believing Christians? Which ones: the ones who believe you can’t lose salvation or the ones who say you can? The ones who say baptism saves or the ones who say it doesn’t?
It’s so tough to choose because they all admit that their interpretation doesn’t lead them to err and yet have such vastly different views on Salvation.
Do the Roman Catholics who debate bible believing Christians, know they have zero authority to understand or to interpret scripture?
