Pope Benedict XVI taught that Mary is Mother of God and, because she is Mother of the Redeemer, also Mother of the Church and of each believer, whom Jesus entrusted to her from the Cross. He emphasized that her complete “yes” to God and her Immaculate Conception do not distance her from us but make her infinitely close, a mother who listens and intercedes. In his writings he presented her as the model of self-giving love who magnifies the Lord rather than herself and continually points us to her Son.

The title “Queen of Angels” is a traditional Catholic honor given to the Virgin Mary, recognizing her as the mother of Jesus and the one whom the heavenly hosts serve. It appears in prayers, hymns, and church names around the world, including the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles and the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels in Cartago, Costa Rica. Believers often picture her crowned and surrounded by angels as a sign of her intercession and protection.

Faith in Jesus, in Christian teaching, is trust that he is the Son of God who lived, died, and rose again to reconcile people to God. It is typically understood as relying on his life and work for forgiveness and new life rather than on personal merit alone. Many who hold this faith describe it as an ongoing relationship expressed through prayer, Scripture, and following his teachings.

“Christ have mercy on us” The central line of the Divine Mercy Chaplet is the petition “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.” It asks God the Father to look upon the suffering and death of Jesus and, because of that sacrifice, to grant mercy to the one who prays and to all people. Those who use the prayer repeat it while meditating on Christ’s Passion as an act of trust in divine mercy.

In Catholic and Eastern Orthodox tradition, Mary is honored as the Mother of God and is believed to intercede powerfully with her Son on behalf of those who ask her help. The Gospel account of the wedding at Cana is often cited as an example of that intercession, when she told the servants to do whatever Jesus commanded. Devotees also point to centuries of reported answered prayers and approved apparitions as signs of the influence attributed to her, though these claims remain matters of faith rather than universally accepted fact.

According to the New Testament Gospels, Jesus repeatedly demonstrated authority over demonic powers by commanding unclean spirits to leave people they had afflicted. Those spirits are portrayed as recognizing him and submitting to his word rather than resisting him. Christian theology holds that his death and resurrection disarmed the principalities and powers and broke the devil’s hold over humanity. First John 3:8 summarizes this claim by stating that the Son of God appeared specifically to destroy the works of the devil.

Mary appeared to St. Catherine Labouré in 1830 and asked that a medal be made from her vision. She stood on the world crushing a serpent, with rays of grace flowing from her hands. The medal’s prayer is “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

Jesus of Nazareth was crucified by Roman authorities in Jerusalem under Pontius Pilate, most likely between 30 and 33 CE. The execution followed charges that included claiming kingship and, in the Gospel accounts, blasphemy. He was nailed to a cross, died after several hours, and was taken down and buried the same day. In Christian teaching, this death is understood as a sacrificial atonement that was followed by his resurrection.

Saint Michael Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; may God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. The Missionaries of Charity began when Mother Teresa left her convent teaching post in 1948 after a profound inner call to live among and care for Calcutta’s most abandoned people. Its members wear a simple white sari with a blue border and operate hospices, children’s homes, and mobile clinics that welcome the dying, the orphaned, and those rejected by society. The congregation has since grown into a worldwide network of sisters, brothers, and priests who continue that same work of direct, unpaid service in slums and disaster zones on every continent.

Saint Patrick was a 5th-century Romano-British missionary and bishop who is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. He is the patron saint of Ireland, and his feast day on March 17 is celebrated worldwide as St. Patrick’s Day. Tradition holds that he used the three-leaf shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity and that he drove the snakes from Ireland.

Saint Padre Pio taught that true love unites devotion to God with selfless care for others, writing that he was “consumed with love for God and love for my neighbour.” He insisted that love is the presence of God in the human heart and said, “Where there is no love, there is no God.” For Padre Pio, life without this love was worse than death, so he urged people to ask God for one thing above all: the grace to love Him more and more.

Saint Clare of Assisi (also known as Santa Clara), born Chiara Offreduccio in 1194, was an Italian noblewoman who left her family to follow Saint Francis and live a life of radical poverty and prayer. She founded the Order of Poor Ladies, later called the Poor Clares, which became one of the first enclosed contemplative orders for women in the Franciscan tradition. Clare is especially remembered for a miracle in which she displayed the Blessed Sacrament to drive away invading soldiers who threatened her convent. She died in 1253, was canonized two years later, and is honored as a patron of television, eyesight, and those who live in poverty.

Our Lady of Guadalupe is the title given to the Virgin Mary after she appeared to the Indigenous convert Juan Diego on Tepeyac Hill near Mexico City in December 1531. Her image is believed to have been miraculously imprinted on his cactus-fiber tilma, which is still displayed in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. She is honored as Patroness of the Americas, and her feast is celebrated on December 12.

According to the Gospels, Jesus healed Saint Magnalana Mariyam of seven demons, after which she accompanied him and supported his ministry with her own resources. In Eastern Christian tradition she is honored as a myrrh-bearer who went to anoint Christ’s body and later lived out her days in Ephesus with the Apostle John. Western legend instead places her later life in Provence, where she is said to have spent decades in penitential solitude at Sainte-Baume.

“The Apostles Creed’ gives me courage “ The Apostles’ Creed is one of the most powerful prayers in the Catholic Church. I try to pray it at least ten times a day because its words fill me with courage and remind me of the unshakable truths of our faith. Each recitation strengthens my trust in God the Father, in Jesus Christ who suffered, died, and rose again, and in the Holy Spirit who guides the Church. Proclaiming this ancient creed unites me with believers across every century who have stood firm in the same profession of faith. In moments of fear or uncertainty, its solemn declarations become a shield that steadies my heart. By repeating these sacred words daily, I place my entire life once more under the lordship of Christ and find the strength to live as His disciple.

“Jesus I trust in you.” Divine Mercy is a Catholic devotion to God’s infinite compassion, revealed to St. Faustina Kowalska. Jesus asked for an image showing two rays red and pale flowing from His heart. The devotion is celebrated on Divine Mercy Sunday, the week after Easter.

Through Mary we can reach Heaven. She is the Mother given to us at the Cross, and she never fails to lead her children to her Son. When we place our prayers in her hands, she purifies them and presents them to Jesus with a mother’s love. Her Fiat opened the way for the Savior to enter the world, and her intercession still opens the way for us to enter eternal life. Those who stay close to Mary find that the path to Heaven becomes clearer, safer, and filled with grace.

Devotion to Saint Philomena rests on the 1802 discovery of a young girl’s bones in the Catacomb of Priscilla, sealed behind tiles later read as “Pax Tecum Filumena.” Private revelations later identified her as a thirteen-year-old Greek princess who vowed virginity, rejected Emperor Diocletian’s proposal, and died a martyr around the year 304. Countless reported healings earned her the title Wonder-Worker and the patronage of infants, children, and the young.

Christ please deliver me. Lift the weight that presses on my heart and give me rest I cannot find alone. Guide my steps when the path ahead feels dark and uncertain. Fill me with courage to face what I cannot change and wisdom to accept your timing. Keep me close to your peace until the storm has fully passed.
