53 years ago, hip-hop was born at a back-to-school party in the Bronx. Now, the Bronx School of Hip Hop is preparing a new generation of artists that will shape what comes next. I sat down with @Nas to talk about the past, present, and future of hip-hop in NYC — from the turntables to our classrooms.

The Talmud teaches that anyone who sustains one soul, has sustained an entire world. For generations, Jewish New Yorkers have sustained our city. Today, we are launching the first-ever municipal Strategy to Combat Antisemitism. Together, we will ensure Jewish New Yorkers are safe and celebrated. We will invest in their protection, their history, and their future. Our safety and our thriving are tied together.

This is truly heartbreaking. Dolly Parton was an extraordinary person and an irreplaceable champion of the working class. We are a better country because of her.

New Yorkers, a storm is arriving today. Don't travel if you don't have to. Never drive or walk through floodwater. Call 911 if you are in danger, and report nonemergency issues to 311. Look out for one another and stay safe.

One thing I value in public leaders is the willingness to engage with people directly and explain their vision.

Today, we opened the Jobs NYC Center at 2 Lafayette Street — a walk-in hub where New Yorkers can find city job opportunities, get application support, and connect with hiring agencies. The work has already begun: 17 new NYC Business Express Service Team (BEST) members were sworn in today and will soon help small businesses cut through red tape. Walk-in services will begin October 5. Drop by, we’d love to see you.

Hey @NYCMayor, can you spot me $1M to finalize a 100% affordable housing project with @AAFE1974? It would yield ~100 units for families earning up to 80% AMI, including a 15% set aside for formerly homeless families. What do you think?

On it. We just allocated $750,000 to replace the roof at Engine 70.
Mr. Mayor! The team at @FDNY Engine 70/Ladder 53 on City Island are a lifeline for local communities — but their station roof is falling apart! We need to find $750K FAST to fix it up, so they can get back to protecting the East Bronx. Any chance you can help us out?

Last month, we refurbished 10 tennis courts in Crotona Park — the only public tennis courts in the Bronx with lights for night play. We stopped by recently to see how things were going. Thank you to @NYJTL, @usta and @yonex_tennis for helping us deliver high-quality public spaces that New Yorkers deserve.

This week, I joined students at P.S. 59 alongside Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to talk about how our two countries are approaching AI’s impact on young minds. Our new policy limits student-facing AI use from 2-K through eighth grade, reflecting Norway’s approach: kids need to learn to think critically, use their imaginations, and stay curious.
