The world lost a dear friend to Indian Country and to our late Principal Chief Wilma Mankiller. During her life, Gloria Steinem dedicated herself to fighting for women’s rights and was a staunch ally for tribal nations and our shared goal of strengthening tribal sovereignty.
Gloria Steinem’s passing brings us sadness at the @CherokeeNation. She was such powerful and effective leader for equality for women and she was a dear friend of former Chief Wilma Mankiller. May she rest in peace.
