Generational Call to Action ** This one is for Boomers and the older half of Gen X. You are the ones still in the chair. Director. Plant manager. Hiring manager. The person who can say no when the consultancy slides a stack of resumes across the table and calls it a talent shortage. Push back. Your kids and grandkids are walking into that market right now. Millennials who did the degree and still got benched. Gen Z sending applications into silence while the foreign student in the same class had an offer in junior year. They are not lazy. Remember every generation was called lazy when they used modern methods. They are competing against a pipeline that was built to go around them. It is time to fight back and subtle moves can make dramatic shifts. You watched the Boomer layoff. Loyalty did not save the desk. You watched Americans train their replacements and then get walked out. You know the script. Shortage. Best and brightest. Temporary. You don't deserve the job. None of it was temporary. So use the seat while you still have it. When the req opens, post it where Americans actually look. Ask HR where did you post this, let me see the req. When the body shop calls, ask for the American applicants they passed over. When somebody says we cannot find people, ask what the wage is and who got interviewed. When a manager only calls for people from his region thousands of miles away, that is not a skills gap. That is bias and it is illegal. Foreign labor is not a favor to your children. It is a wage decision dressed up as kindness. The person who benefits is not the kid trying to rent an apartment on a first engineering check. You do not need a speech. You need to hire one of them, refer one of them, and refuse the stack that skips them. They are entering the workforce on your watch. Do not hand the door to someone whose whole plan was to use it and leave. Meanwhile- GenZ - stop the hate if you expect the job interview. Nobody is hiring a hater for their team.

It is Gen X that has been training our replacements. It is Gen X that has been laid off with no notice and no severance. It is Gen X that has been culled from the workforce. Many of us start our own businesses and only hire Americans. Many of us are not getting the 1/

You don't get into management without taking on 80 hour weeks forever. Which means stopping to think about any of this is off the table. GenX largely understood this 20 years ago and opted to have lives instead. I'm not sure who you're talking to.

I didn't - I worked 84 hour 7 day weeks for months in semiconductors. They paid for it too.

Boomers hate Americans, they think Americans are lazy. They love the propaganda of "the noble savage". They love hiring third worlders to prove "they aren't racist".

Every single Boomer hates Americans? That's a super weird statement.

And that's the only reason I can't just sit back, shut up, and cave in to the madness: Our kids and grandkids are expected to compete against a human trafficking pipeline built to go around them.

As an older Gen Xer, I find this spot on. Companies are trading their future for short-term financial gain.

I complained and complained as a director and senior director. I posted in the US. I complained to USCIS about one. But the bean counters said 'you take an indian or you take no one'. so I generally worked with no one until my boss plopped indians onto my team.

Fire your entire HR department and hire a Personnel department that's about half the size.

Indians have taken over the roles you mention and they will NOT hire Americans if they do they lose the kickbacks. You need to be addressing the Board of Directors of firms, the CEOs, the CIOs, the VP of Operations. These people are still mainly Americans. You also need to be addressing members of Congress, both political parties, POTUS and VP. Mid level managers generally have to follow policy which is hire the cheapest not the best.

My first job as an software engineer at a well know profitable electronic design automation company wiped out by Indians who ruined the product. Hate is not strong enough . War. Genx

As GenX, the talent pool for employees is shit and has been for 12 years or more. They are whiny, stupid, can’t self start, no work ethics, can’t solve basic problems, don’t engage their brain at all, don’t want to, don’t know how, have almost no knowledge and fewer skills, just empty shells of saggy shit. And over 1/2 are fat, too. These are managerial positions, CPAs, bookkeepers, accountants, front desk managers, general managers, F&B managers and staff. I’ve sold 3/4 of my companies because I couldn’t stand the employees and their replacements were just the same.

Fight back- When a manager only calls for people from his region, 1000s of miles away - That is illegal. Foreign labor is a wage decision for McGreedy at the top. It weakens the country.

I’ve always entertained the thought that once the boomers die off and GenX grows old there will be no one left to push back against the “machine” and they will have won and gained total dominance and control because the generations coming behind doesn’t seem to impressive.

I did it. I got out of it as I wanted to own my time at a lesser cost and unfortunately lower pay. I always hired who I trusted. It was never people outside my comfort zone. I dont get the boomers who want diversity. I hate the drama. I wanted work done with the least bitching.
