Starting to shop for this old girl’s successor. Weird to feel sentimental about an inanimate object, but we had a real story: Bought it at the height of my career in fitness. Making a lot of money, minimal expenses, $650 payment felt super light. Then I got injured and lost that career, and overnight $650 was infinite and crushing. Through a real dark time in my life, I fought tooth and nail and NEVER missed even ONE payment on it. I figured something out every month. And eventually, paid it off in full. Since then, I’ve brought both my children home from the hospital in it. It protected my family in a fender-bender and everyone (the Escalade included) went totally unscathed. It’s at once a symbol of where I’ve been, the resilience to persist, and where I wound up. It saw me grow from a single, broken man into a married father of 2. From a numbered apartment spot to the driveway of our home. She’s 12+ years old now. Well over 100k miles. Needs more $ in work than she’d sell for. So it’s almost time for us to say goodbye and hope the next vehicle serves us just as well! To the 2014 Escalade! You’re a Fendler legend!
