The worst part is that differently from chess pokemon doesn not begin from an equal playing field, much of the skill comes from recognizing the strenghts and weaknesses of the opposing team on the fly, but now anybody will know they have an advantage and how to capitalize on it🧵

To expand on this, I think the landscape for IRL tours is going to change a lot aswell. Publishing team after day1 should be a no go, as people with private bots can have them run lines vs all of the competitors while they sleep and have precise gameplans in the morning 🧵
I think the genie is officially out of the bottle, the rise of these engines will be revolutionary for the game and change the way we perceive it and prepare for tournaments.
That said, I'm a bit worried the game will become very reliant on these tools like chess is with engines

This has been kind of a long project, but I built mikumiku37, a self-play RL VGC Reg M-C bot that reached #1 on the Showdown ladder.
For now, you can play mikumiku37 by challenging it on Showdown.
