Today marks the 12th anniversary of a vision rooted in the simple belief that "India can manufacture for the world". 🇮🇳 Looking back on 2014, one may recall debates about India's manufacturing potential. At a time when many products used in India were imported, PM @NarendraModi ji refused to accept that as our fate. He envisioned an India that would not only manufacture for its own needs but would also create products for the world. An India where products used across the globe would proudly carry the tag 'Made in India' and be known for their quality. We are witnessing that vision taking shape. The numbers tell an encouraging story. India recorded its highest-ever annual FDI inflow of USD 94.53 billion in FY 2025-26, while cumulative FDI inflows from FY 2014-15 to FY 2025-26 reached USD 843 billion. Greenfield industrial smart cities are being set up across the country under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme to build infrastructure for globally competitive manufacturing. Ease of Doing Business reforms have simplified regulations and reduced the compliance burden, while reforms in key sectors have created new opportunities for investment and manufacturing. The PLI schemes have added further momentum. As of March 31, 2026, they have resulted in ₹2.40 lakh crore of actual investment, ₹23.8 lakh crore in production/sales and ₹15.2 lakh crore in exports, while generating over 14.6 lakh direct & indirect jobs. Sectors such as electronics and telecom, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automobiles, IT hardware, and speciality steel have significantly benefited from the PLI schemes. The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) is giving a huge boost to small enterprises, and over 470 crore orders have been placed through the platform. But the real story of Make in India goes beyond these numbers. It is the confidence it has created. The confidence among our startup founders, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, innovators, exporters and, most importantly, our people that ‘India can make, India can innovate, and India can compete with the world’. #12YearsOfMakeInIndia is therefore not just a milestone. It reminds us what can happen when a nation believes in its own capabilities and the government powers that belief with sustained reforms and action. The journey of Make in India continues, with an even bigger ambition: making India a global manufacturing powerhouse, which will also strengthen our Viksit Bharat by 2047 vision.

Had productive discussions with Mr. Margus Tsahkna, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia. Our conversations focused on strengthening India-Estonia cooperation in trade, investment, digital transformation, cyber security and emerging technologies. A series of meaningful engagements and constructive meetings in Brussels further strengthened the India-EU partnership. 🇮🇳🇪🇺 Here are some highlights from my visit to Belgium.

Held a productive meeting with @Nokia Corporation President & CEO @JustinHotard and their senior leadership in Helsinki. Discussions centred on expanding Nokia's manufacturing footprint in India, scaling up exports from India-based facilities, and deepening R&D and research investment in the country. Also placed strong emphasis on telecom network security and building resilient, trusted supply chains. Invited them to tap further into India's engineering talent, growing telecom market, and the 'Make in India' ecosystem to strengthen the India-Finland innovation partnership. 🇮🇳🇫🇮

Had an excellent meeting with Mr. Jussi Herlin, Vice Chair, and Mr. Ilkka Hara, Executive Vice President & CFO, of @KONECorporation. We explored opportunities to expand KONE's manufacturing, R&D and innovation footprint in India, while scaling up exports from India to global markets. Encouraged the company to leverage the immense opportunities under the @MakeInIndia initiative and partner in India's growth story. 🇮🇳🇫🇮

Delighted to address the India-Finland Business Roundtable alongside Finland's Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr. @SakariPuisto. Highlighted how the India-Finland relationship is entering a decisive new phase, with our leaders elevating our ties to a Strategic Partnership in Digitalization and Sustainability earlier this year. Underscored the immense opportunities that lie ahead through stronger trade and investment ties, particularly with the conclusion of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, which will unlock new avenues for businesses on both sides. Emphasised that India's vast talent pool, growing economy, and manufacturing capabilities complement Finland's technological expertise and world-class innovation ecosystem, creating a strong foundation for deeper collaboration. Had productive discussions with Finland's Minister of Economic Affairs, Mr. @SakariPuisto. We discussed ways to deepen India-Finland cooperation in investments, innovation, R&D, startups and business partnerships. We also explored collaboration across AI, 6G, quantum technologies, semiconductors, space and sustainability, while discussing how the India-EU FTA can further strengthen trade and investment between our countries. 🇮🇳🇫🇮

We discussed strengthening economic and financial cooperation, enhancing trade and investment ties, and expanding collaboration in digitalisation and emerging sectors. We reviewed progress across resilient supply chains, critical and emerging technologies, clean energy & innovation, deep-tech startups, green hydrogen, and EVs & batteries. We also reaffirmed our resolve to deepen economic engagement & build future-ready partnerships that benefit businesses & citizens alike.
