“Call of Duty public multiplayer needs to feel casual again.”
More than 9,000 Call of Duty players have signed a petition calling on Activision and the game’s development teams to remove skill-based matchmaking from standard, unranked public playlists.
Skill-based matchmaking groups players with others of similar ability.
Petition starter Tyler Smith, a gamer known online as @tdawgsmitty, argues that the system can make matches feel overly competitive, even when players just want to try a new weapon, unwind after work or play with friends at different skill levels.
The petition asks Call of Duty to prioritize connection quality in public matches, keep skill-based competition in Ranked Play and provide more transparency about how its matchmaking works.
