Leaving aside whether or not you support Medicare for All, @AbdulElSayed hits on an important point here: Medicare today has become enormously complicated. (It can also be expensive for beneficiaries.)
Here's how we get Medicare for All done:
Make Medicare whole (no one can keep all the parts straight!)
Include vision, dental, and hearing.
Begin extending to more people, starting with children.
We arrive at Medicare for All, which means great Medicare for everyone.

A quick note about The Bulwark.
We are obviously an outlet with a core worldview. But we also believe in conversation, dialogue, the differences of opinion and the value community. There's a lot of back and forth on this platform all the time about which candidates we favor or not, or what stories we emphasize or don't. No media company is immune from those criticisms. Nor should those criticisms stop.
But what makes The Bulwark unique, imo, is that we also put in the work to better converse, to foster dialogue, and to build community.
Yesterday, many Bulwark members were on the ground in Springfield to talk to members of the Haitian community there. Last night, we held a show in nearby Dayton to raise awareness and funds for those Haitians. I had the honor of hosting a conversation with Carl Ruby, Viles Dorsainvil, and Michaelle Louis — three truly remarkable individuals doing God's work in this corner of Ohio. It made me realize how the root of our problems really is an inability to talk to and understand one another. How we've replaced that, with the manufactured, algorithmic version on the platform on which I type.
As for community, more than 1,000 people attended last night's event, from all over the state of Ohio and well beyond. They were there because they want to make sense of the world and because they want a better world, much like we do. Between them and those who gave online, we have raised $245k for the Haitian Support Center. I'm incredibly proud to play a small role in doing this. It makes me proud, as well, to work at The Bulwark. Please consider giving if you can.

Strange dynamic here. Susan Collins voted to confirm Russell Vought to lead OMB after he championed expansive presidential powers on spending. She has complained about the White House’s use of pocket rescissions, but WH continues to do it. She chairs the Appropriations Committee.
Without warning or consultation, Congress just received an $810 million package of pocket rescissions from the Administration. This is the most recent attempt by this Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to undermine Congress’s Constitutional power of the purse.
This move shows that OMB intentionally withheld these funds for months to execute this unlawful cancellation of appropriations that were approved on a bipartisan basis and signed into law.
Not only is the delay itself an impoundment that was not reported to Congress, but also it is a usurpation of Congress’s appropriations powers. OMB is an agency of the executive branch. It does not get to decide which programs are worth funding.
The independent Government Accountability Office has concluded that pocket rescissions are unlawful and not permitted by the Impoundment Control Act. Any effort to rescind appropriated funds without congressional approval is a clear violation of the law.
I will work with my colleagues to address these illegal actions.
