But why stop at one? Why not shelve the entire flyover project around KBR National Park? Hyderabadis have reached this stage after: 🔴 Multiple peaceful street protests 🔴 Police detentions 🔴 High Court proceedings 🔴 Supreme Court proceedings 🔴 Repeated appeals for scientific alternatives And what has Hyderabad lost in the process? 🌳 Thousands of age-old trees in KBR’s Eco-Sensitive Zone. The one-way traffic system around KBR has now shown what citizens have been saying for years: Simple, practical traffic solutions were possible all along. So why was a disastrous project involving thousands of crores of taxpayers’ money pushed around Hyderabad’s last green lung—putting KBR’s existence at risk in the name of solving traffic woes? @TelanganaCMO @revanth_anumula @GHMCOnline @CommissionrGHMC must answer: Why flyovers were approved in KBR's eco-sensitive zone❓ Where are the mandatory DPR, EIA, Environmental & Social Impact Assessment, inter-generational impact study, traffic impact studies and cost-benefit analysis❓ Were these studies placed in the public domain before execution❓ Which experts, climate scientists and urban mobility professionals were consulted❓ Why did the so called Tree Protection Committee approve the axing of thousands of trees in KBR’s ESZ without a detailed and transparent public study❓ This is not merely about reducing 14 structures to 1. Citizens are having to take to the streets and approach courts just to protect whatever little ecological space Hyderabad has left. KBR, our lakes, trees and other natural spaces are not luxuries—they are what make this city liveable. How did protecting a city’s remaining green spaces become a fight that citizens have to wage? This is sad and totally unwelcome. Hyderabadis survive on water from that reservoir and yet some citizens are least concerned about it. There are always solutions to practice a culture, a religion, a belief without harming nature. We really need to call out actions of such citizens. Simplicity is in the air!!! We read somewhere the Oneway around KBR was our Honourable CM’s simple idea!! This is great!! We do hope he has another simple idea to restore the lost greenery for this experiment and another simple idea to avoid this new flyover as that too is not required.. We need simple ideas to ensure #KBR is protected for ever.

Thank you for consistently speaking up for the environment, @RahulGandhi. Can you also ask the @INCIndia governments in Telangana and Karnataka to walk the talk. Destroying mature trees/ national parks for road projects isn’t sustainable or necessary.
