Faith Surges at BYU: In my previous calling as Church Commissioner of Education, I was inspired by the efforts of @BYU to realize its mission. I am thrilled to see this report of strengthened faith in Christ among BYU graduates. I am thankful for President Reese, the BYU leadership, students, and faculty who are striving to become the BYU of prophecy and promise foreseen by past and current prophets. deseret.com/education/2026/0…

Now let’s spread this faith in a positive, uplifting manner to all the world. To our Christian brothers and sisters. Our agnostic/atheist brothers and sisters. Our brothers and sisters of all religions. Let’s build bridges and not tear down by blocking or negativity. May we not raise ourselves above others. Let’s find common ground and lift together.

Out of Touch. More than half of North American Latter-day Saint BYU students will leave the Church before age 30, and most of them made this decision before the age of 18. BYU students have faith in the Restoration, but have lost trust in the institution which manages the Church. The culture of the corporation is driving membership away—and not because of faith—because leadership has allowed belief systems and zealous ideology to supplant faith.

Thank you, Elder @ClarkG_Gilbert, for your excellent service and leadership as the commissioner of Church Education. I attended @BYU in Provo but had to drop out due to serious health issues. I enrolled at @byuidaho through @BYUPathwayWorld, and love that program. I am amazed by how effectively the classes I am taking online maintain the same focus on the doctrine of Christ, and incorporate the gospel into coursework, as I experienced on campus at @BYU. The institute classes provided online are excellent and instructive. I am so thankful to everyone who has worked so diligently to make these schools and their online extensions a shining light set on a hill, inviting students to come unto Christ, to come and learn and go forth to serve.

Every time I visit BYU Provo campus I feel the faith of that faculty, students surging there. I consider being on campus as being in a sacred space. Weather it's at the Museum of Art or at the Music Building for a preformance, I feel the spirit strongly in word and deed.

What are we measuring? The results of retrenching “disruption” such that more hetero-dox/prax youth increasingly self-select themselves to apply & attend elsewhere? Is this spiking the football for more conformity in belief (Mormon madrassa) a win for a UNIVERSITY? 🤷‍♀️

Almost 50 percent of those “faithful” LDS students will leave the Church before age 30. This is a dishonest portrayal.
