41-7 Win
The Bulldogs took care of business on the road Friday night, rolling past Champaign Central 41-7 to improve to 3-0 on the season.
The Bulldog defense turned in its strongest performance of the young season, holding Champaign Central to just seven points. The Bulldogs forced three turnovers on the night, picking off two passes and recovering a fumble, while also recording four tackles for loss. Beau Back led the Bulldogs with seven tackles, while Talon Decker added six tackles and two tackles for loss. Aiden Banister and Dylan Derickson each came away with an interception, and Brayden Thompson recovered the fumble.
After piling up 575 yards and 63 points a week ago, the Dogs didn't need the same offensive fireworks against the Maroons. Instead, the Bulldogs put together a balanced attack while the defense kept the Maroons off the scoreboard for all but one late-game touchdown.
The Bulldogs finished with 367 yards of offense, almost evenly divided between the run and pass. The Bulldogs rushed for 176 yards while Konner Fisher and the passing game added 191 through the air.
Cody Moen and Marco Casillas once again provided the one-two punch on the ground. Moen led the Bulldogs with 94 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown, while Casillas rushed for 60 yards and found the end zone three times. Together, the duo accounted for 154 of Mahomet-Seymour's 176 rushing yards and all four rushing touchdowns.
Fisher was efficient through the air, completing 15-of-22 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores went to Jackson Golden, who finished with three catches for 36 yards. Noah Snyder led the Bulldogs with 59 receiving yards, while Bryson Tiefenthaler hauled in a team-high five passes for 52 yards.
The result was another convincing Bulldog victory, this time 41-7 on the road.
Friday’s game was the first of a four-week road show for the Bulldogs. Next stop, Taylorville for the conference opener.
