DEAR GUMP TWITTER, After five straight days of debates, accusations, investigations, emotional reactions, and grown adults dedicating an impressive amount of time to someone they supposedly “don’t watch”… I have reached a conclusion. The experiment worked. 😂 For the last five days, I wanted to see just how much influence Coach Smook could have over the Alabama conversation. The results? The algorithm moved. The views moved. The conversations moved. And the haters mobilized. People who claim they don’t care suddenly had plenty to say. People who claim they don’t watch somehow knew every detail. People who claim I have no influence somehow spent hours trying to prove that I don’t. Make that make sense. And for that, I genuinely say: Thank you. Because whether you intended to or not, you helped put Coach Smook Network in front of more people. A special shoutout to the unofficial Coach Smook Scouting Department — @OwenDBarnes, @BoersBurner, @TopTierAlabama, @PimpSanderson and everybody else who has spent the last three years monitoring, discussing, criticizing, investigating and occasionally obsessing over everything I do. At this point, y’all deserve credentials. 😂 Your work has not gone unnoticed. Viewership is up. Momentum is building. And the Coach Smook Network has a MAJOR announcement coming. I have a feeling some of you are going to LOVE it. And some of you are going to absolutely HATE it. Either way… You’ll be watching. 👀 Before I close this chapter, however, let’s clean up a few things. THE SCOUTING REPORT 1. I DIDN’T SNEAK IN. Let’s start there. You don’t “sneak” into a credentialed media environment. Credentials are issued. Access is granted. If someone has questions about who receives access, what access they receive, or how certain people are providing information from environments other people don’t have access to… Maybe investigate the entire system instead of automatically investigating Coach Smook. But apparently… NOBODY WATCHES ME. 😂 2. I CHOSE THIS LANE. Yes, I’ve asked about credentials before. No, I don’t regret it. But I also made a conscious decision to build Alabama coverage differently. I don’t need to stand in a media scrum waiting for my turn to ask the exact same five questions everyone else is asking. The media landscape has changed. Creators have changed it. Fans have changed it. And the next generation of sports media isn’t going to wait around for somebody to decide whether we’re “legitimate” enough to have a voice. I’m building my own lane. And I’m perfectly comfortable in it. 3. “FAKE INSIDER.” “MESSAGE BOARDS.” “DISCORD.” This is probably my favorite part. If I have: No sources. No connections. No access. No audience. And supposedly no credibility… WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT ME? Seriously. Why the obsession? Why the screenshots? Why the threads? Why the investigations? Why the dissertations about a channel nobody watches? 😂 And let’s talk about message boards. What’s the difference between an independent creator discussing information with his supporters and established media personalities participating in similar conversations anonymously? I’ll wait. The bigger issue isn’t where information is discussed. It’s whether the information is accurate. Alabama fans deserve better than rumors dressed up as intelligence.
