He built the most impactful launchpad on BNB while the odds weren't particularly stacked in his favor, he was one of the first to add stocks on multiple chains, so keep an eye out for the man that never sits still and always pushes forward.

There is so much to unpack here.
First and foremost, I want to extend a huge gratitude to my brother @eth_cedric and the @flapdotsh team. From partnering with us to launch ToshiMart, to upgrading it into the full Flap Suite (which is much much broader and more interesting than what we had available at ToshiMart), and now our two brands working together to build an amazing ecosystem on Base, with so many cool features and innovations.
As mentioned, I will throw out many thoughts and details on why this is such a big upgrade. For now, please all welcome Flap and their entire product to Base.
We’re proud to partner with @flapdotsh as they bring their launchpad to Base.
As a partner, Toshi will support Flap’s growth, strengthen its connection with the Base ecosystem, and contribute to the next chapter of onchain creation.

Here we go again! The WSJ is working on a story blaming Coinbase and me personally for the CLARITY Act not passing.
The Journal has repeatedly been hostile to CLARITY in its reporting, regurgitating bank lobby talking points, while I’ve spent years pushing for crypto legislation, but that’s not stopping them from trying to reverse the blame.
The boring TLDR: in January I opposed a draft of the bill going into a committee vote, because it needed a lot of work on DeFi, tokenization, CFTC authority, and stablecoin rewards. At the time, the bill had major issues that would have harmed crypto. Support was fractured, and it wasn’t passable. We worked with a number of parties who improved the bill and made it passable. All four of the items I called out were fixed in the draft that then went through the committee about four months later. I'm proud to have done it, and would do it again, because it helped create a better bill. One step of many along the way.
The final draft of CLARITY that went to the Senate was great, and I strongly supported it. I'll continue showing up for our customers and pushing for clear rules that treat crypto fairly, even if those who feel threatened by crypto try to plant false stories. It's a shame that the WSJ takes direction from bank lobbyists instead of reporting the truth, but luckily, people are smart enough to see through it these days, and it backfires on them every time.

I've seen/been forwarded a few angry comments from multiple $TOSHI community members about me/me speaking out about things.
Those comments are fair, but I do want to put a few things in perspective.
For 38 months I've worked on Toshi. No salary paid, no intention to sell tokens, a passion project for me.
My kid walks around with a Toshi plushie every day and calls it Tishi. His excitement makes me happy
Back to the comments and their validity.
It is normal for someone looking in from "the outside" to see my comments and worry that it may hurt Toshi. I have held off on speaking out for well over a year while nothing favorable happened. I didn't speak out publicly while I rallied behind the scenes against the Zora slop, while many many people would DM and call me to ask us to start pairing EVERY Toshi art piece with a new token, and basically pushing that narrative to our community.
If I had followed them then, that would have taken Toshi to the slaughterhouse. @FlynnJohnsonn went to the Basecamp last year and walked into a Zora shill party, where it would've been better to call it ZoraCamp. Every builders' meeting was to shill Zora.
Look where that led Base.
At some point I decided to speak up, while still trying to change things behind the scenes. Zora failed cause it was a horrible model as basically everyone already realized, except for those paid to push the narrative and the few that believed in its validity.
So again back to those posts, why do I post?
I do it for all of you at Toshi, I do it for all the Base(d) builders I've met over the past 3 years, I do it for all the communities as I still believe we build in one of the best possible onchain economies in the world.
I also believe Toshi is the strongest built native token brand in our industry and can potentially compete with Pudgy one day in brand recognition (we have a long way to go of course).
Every single day we are all positive about Toshi and its growth, even when others aren't. We've gone through many ups and downs, and currently we're in a bit of a quiet phase as our ecosystem is not one of the hottest and we're currently not the shiny new things.
As a community project, it's on all of us collectively to push forward. You don't need "the team" to give you permission to do cool stuff to grow the brand and community. Join us all in this mission, help me see the light when it feels dark, and I will do the same for you.
Then shortly back to why these posts?
Now Zora was given here as an example of something, but there have been many things that happened that hurt us, our brand, our community, other communities, other builders etc. deeply. These builders give up and move to other chains once they see the opportunities there, because they feel they'd get treated better there. Not us, we are here after 38 months, still trying to build, still trying to grow the brand, while living on essentially a non-existing treasury.
If you try to change things through kindness and feedback a thousand times and they don't work, then the choice for me becomes getting bit another thousand times while being quiet, or speaking out and hoping that the biting ends.
So far the biting hasn't ended, but the biting has had positive impact in various ways. Multiple people have privately reached out to me to show support from places you'd hope the support comes from.
To calm some minds down, I'll try to be a bit less negative on the timeline, but when things are ugly and border crime, I will speak out.

the best version of memes on base is one where memes succeed in and of themselves. because they are funny. because they onboard people. because they make fun. because they piss people off. whatever. but because *they* do it, not because I or someone else says "this is a good meme." if i look at some of the oldest, best memes on base historically - toshi, tybg, chad, dickbutt, etc - i think you see this is a pattern.
i'm excited to see the base trenches continue to grow and evolve and the memes that are meant to, go viral.

A very well written article with some excellent points. I hope @base reads this and takes the important parts to heart. Too often have they vamped their existing eco instead of leaning in.
The chain should never revolve around what a chain lead decides to like or wants to push.
