Gambling has destroyed big-time spectator sports. Go outside and throw the ball around.

Hilarious that Florida State scored two touchdowns at the end of that game only to have the refs steal both of them

The ACC is DESPERATE

There is wayyyyyyy to much money at stake. ACC has to prop up Miami in case they lose to Notre Dame later in the year. Close Miami games will just not be watchable this year.

Leaving the undefeated Florida State team out of the college football playoff in 2023 ruined Mike Norvell’s career.

I came across a Reddit post that described AI in a way I can’t stop thinking about: “AI allows the wealthy to access skills while stripping skilled people of their ability to access wealth.” I don’t think I’ve ever seen the purpose of AI captured so brutally and accurately.

Call me crazy, but ancient, old-growth trees are more valuable than any billionaire, politician, or corporation

Not kidding when I say, a lot of the misery of modern life derives from the fact that we live on computers when we should be living in villages bordered by woods, canopied by stars, hearing the owl shriek in the night and waking to the clear ringing of bells.
One of our local churches decided to start ringing the bells again this year, and it absolutely slaps. Those medieval folks were on to something using bells to keep track of time.

i’ll never understand treating ancient trees like disposable resources. no amount of money, political power, or corporate profit can replace a living organism that has survived for centuries. some things are simply too valuable to cut down.

I've experimented with creatine twice. 10g/day for several weeks both times. Both times it caused my hair to thin dramatically within that short period of time.

Coffee drinkers, does it bother you knowing you are physically addicted to a substance and need it to function normally? Would you not prefer being able to feel clear-minded and energetic without chemical assistance?

What people like this cannot understand is that using AI REDUCES our agency. Not all of us imagine that this is the good life:
I find these takes really confusing. you have a 150 IQ+ tireless genius living in your computer. it can use your browser and read your email and access any file you want. it won't complain if you give it the most tedious administrative tasks. it is willing to work 24/7 for less than minimum wage. it can work unsupervised for hours at a time. and you can't think of any way to put it to use? are you completely lacking in imagination or do you enjoy mundane administrative tasks? you enjoy paying parking tickets and triaging emails and manually unsubscribing from spam and vetting credit card payments and canceling subscriptions and renegotiating insurance? you like doing that?

This is the type of practical art I can always appreciate. Other art forms for their own sake always fall short of Divine handiwork. A below average sunrise bests anything we can do.
My first attempt at timber framing more than a quarter century ago now. Oak at that! I made a good living building elaborate horse stables for about a decade after college. This was the last ‘barn’ I built. The next decade was focused on using these same methods to build houses.
