🟨 After the CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate, the SEC is moving ahead with tokenized equities. Just days after Congress failed to advance broader digital-asset market structure legislation, the SEC introduced a five-year Innovation Exemption allowing eligible venues to trade tokenized versions of U.S.-listed equities onchain. The framework requires tokenized shares to preserve the same rights as their traditional counterparts, including dividends and voting rights, while issuers retain the right to object. SEC Chair Paul Atkins explicitly linked the move to Congress’ failure to advance CLARITY, positioning the exemption as an interim path while longer-term rules are developed.

🟨 OpenAI’s private-market valuation could jump 76% in less than six months The company is considering a new funding round at a valuation of up to $1.5T, according to The New York Times. Earlier reports put initial discussions at more than $1.2T, with terms still preliminary and no financing completed. OpenAI was valued at roughly $852B in its March financing. A $1.5T transaction would represent an increase of nearly $650B from that round. The discussions come as OpenAI continues to fund an exceptionally capital-intensive expansion in compute and infrastructure while remaining private.

🟨 Europe’s AI champion reaches €21B valuation Mistral AI has raised €3B in the largest equity funding round ever completed by a private European technology company, bringing its valuation to more than €21B. Samsung led the round alongside the Scaleup Europe Fund and PSG Equity, with a16z, Nvidia, General Catalyst, Lightspeed and others also participating. Just three years after launch, Mistral is now on track to reach $1B in annual recurring revenue by year-end.

The Chinese AI company behind Kimi has faced allegations from Anthropic that it used distillation techniques to replicate capabilities from Claude, claims Moonshot denies. 🟨 Anthropic investors reportedly see a path to a $2T IPO valuation CFO Krishna Rao is leading early meetings with prospective IPO investors ahead of a potential October listing, according to the Financial Times. Some existing investors believe rapid growth could support a valuation of $2T or more, with annualized revenue projected to reach $100B to $120B by the end of 2026. Alongside its core enterprise and coding business, Anthropic is expanding Claude deeper into healthcare and life sciences, including clinical trials, regulatory operations and biomedical research. Investors are also weighing growing competition from lower-cost Chinese AI models, regulatory pressure and Anthropic's ongoing tensions with the US government.

🟨 Anthropic holds pre-IPO investor meetings ahead of potential fall listing Prospective investors are now meeting directly with the company as it prepares for a potential fall IPO. The meetings follow its SEC filing in June and focus on Chinese competition, political risk, and infrastructure costs. Polymarket odds of an Anthropic IPO by October 31 spiked to 75% yesterday ahead of the news before settling back to 62%.
