[Crossroads, Dracaena Malfoy, Harry Potter, Ronnie Weasley (1/4)] The opening of the dance couldn’t have ended soon enough. That may had been the worse experience of Harry’s life, it was visible on his face, his body language and the way both him and Parvati Patil stepped on each other. The formal dance would continue for a while longer, as students scattered on the sides of the Great Hall into small groups, and few more couples moved to the floor. After enough people filled the center, Harry eventually found himself sitting with Parvati, Ronnie and Neville, at one of the tables along the edges of the dance floor. The arrangement was comfortable enough to hid how thoroughly the evening had failed their expectations. Neville had danced with Ronnie for a piece, and neither of them had needed to pretend that there was anything more to it, they gone through the motions with some awkwardness after agreeing to attend together. Neville was perfectly pleasant company, Ronnie found that she could relax around him in a way she probably couldn’t with a boy she actually would have liked to impress. On the other hand, for him, she was just Ronnie, and in many categories she filed her in the same as Harry: One of the mates. They talked for a while and found a particular entertainment in observing the other students on the floor, commenting on spectacularly bad footwork, and mimicking the exaggerated elegance of the Beauxbatons. It was perfectly comfortable as neither of them felt any need to make it into anything else. The same could not be said of Harry Potter. Ronnie glanced at him a few times, and noticed his distance. Parvati was pleasant, and there was nothing wrong with her as a person, but they could not sustain a conversation to save their lives, less so when Harry continued to be distracted with the sight of Cho Chang dancing with Cedric Diggory. Ronnie would elbow his sides, and he would catch himself, force his attention back toward Parvati, and then a few moments later finding his eyes drifting away. Parvati noticed obviously. She was not offended so much as convinced there was very little point in trying to get the attention of someone that wasn’t even participating in the conversation. Eventually a Beauxbatons student approached Parvati and she accepted his invitation to dance with an expression of unmistakable relief. Leaving Harry without either of them needed to agree that the arrangement had become miserable. Across the Hall, Dracaena Malfoy had noticed all of that. Her own evening was rather dull. The Slytherin boy accompanying her was perfectly fine, respectable. Pure-blooded, socially adept and with a rather well-connected family. Suitable for her own family’s expectations. She didn’t particularly care for his company beyond that, her mind still drifted towards Harry Potter, who had rejected her offer days before. That fact remained lodged in her head, ever increasing her irritation all evening, and now she watched Potter sitting alone after Patil left, his attention still fixed on Chang. The entire situation was beyond insulting in its absurdity; Potter had refused her for that Patil girl, only to spend the evening looking at another girl. The conversation that Ronnie had with Neville gradually slowed down, as the notes of the ball music continued. The initial amusement of judging people’s dancing gave way to a comfortable silence only broken by some occasional observation. Ronnie looked once more at Harry at her side, who still wore a pained expression on his face. Neville seemed to notice something, his eyes moved from Ronnie to Harry and back again; Ronnie saw from the corner of her eye that Neville’s expression changed into a sudden, and delighted grin. He gave her a quick wink and, keeping his hand below the table so Harry couldn’t see, gave her an enthusiastic thumbs-up. Ronnie stared at him in confusion, having absolutely no idea what he was trying to communicate. Neville then stood, and stretched as he had made his mind about something. He announced to both of them that he was going to find Seamus and Dean, and would see them later. As he walked away, he glanced back once more and gave Ronnie another thumbs-up, leaving her sitting there with an increasingly horrible suspicion. Was she that obvious!? Ronnie flushed red as he stared at the retreating Neville who looked too much pleased with himself. The possibility that she had been really that obvious all evening suddenly became unbearable. And if Neville of all people saw her, did Parvati noticed too? Did someone else around them? Or was it more than just tonight? Did Harry? The thought made her want to disappear under the table, but she ended up looking at him yet another time; Harry was still looking at Cho, completely unaware of the catastrophe that was her inner world. The opportunity was suddenly there, and it was painfully obvious. Ronnie was Harry’s best friend. They had spent years together, survived things that two children definitely shouldn’t have to go through. She didn’t need an excuse, clever line or a convincing explanation. She could just ask him to dance. And he would probably say yes. He had no reason to refuse, and the thought should had been reassuring, but… What if he did say no? It was ridiculous, there was no reason for it, but she couldn’t stop thinking on it, it made her frightening to formulate the words. If Harry rejected a dance because he was tired, distracted or wanted to simply stay, maybe Ronnie could survive it. But what if he looked at her with a weirder out expression, and asked “Why?”, in some manner that made it clear that she was never even considered. Of course he wouldn’t want to hurt her, she knew that. Worse still, what if he saw through her? What if he made an expression that showed only pity for her? She would have to confront the fact that may have been there all along: Perhaps he didn’t feel that close with her, as she did with him. Across the Hall, Dracaena reached almost exactly the same conclusion, she could ask him. She knew how to get under his skin, how to provoke him, hot to challenge him into doing something simply because refusing her would feel like losing. She knew harry well enough to understand which buttons to push. She had learned how turn their hostility into action. The rejection before was a fluke, a miscalculation, and there was no obstacle this time. Yet, she was rejected once. It was still fresh and it stings her. She approached him believing that she was giving him a life-saving opportunity, in her mind he would had been flustered, perhaps he would have an amusing mix of anger and gratefulness. But he dismissed her with casual cruelty, and walking back after that had taken every bit of Malfoy composure she could gather. The dance floor continued turning in front of them, couples moving under the floating candle lights, while music filled the Great Hall. Ronnie only had to speak. Dracaena only had to stand up.

Ronnie Weasley was always the middle sibling. From the start she always received the hand-me-downs from her brothers, but that didn't bother her... at first. As she grew up she couldn't help but feel jealous of Ginevra. While she had the mended and oversized things, Ginny continued to get all the new things instead, girl things, things actually meant for her rather than things Fred, George, Percy, Bill and Charlie passed down because they outgrew them. It's like her parents had skipped her completely and become an afterthought when Ginny came into their lives. At some point they just assumed that just how she liked to dress, but really, she was never given any other option. Was she boyish because they made her, or because she actually liked it? She couldn't tell yet. Then a fateful encounter with The-Boy-Who-Lived brought a unique spark into her life. Harry Potter didn't know anything about magic, about the Wizarding World, certainly nothing about her or her family. Yet Harry was looking at her with fascination; he wanted to know everything, about her, her family, the lives of wizards. How could she ever let that feeling of being the center of someone's attention, for once, slip through her fingers?
Lacking any older sisters, for the first three years Rannie Weasley was stuck with her brothers’ very-oversized hand-me-downs. Flopping sleeves and a dusty hem became something of a calling card for the girl and by the rustling, anyone could hear her coming. Despite this, the robes and vest always felt just a little too tight around her chest.

[Very important missing characterization of Lily Potter, obviously.] "At least my parents aren't related, Black." Lily Evans said calmly. "Must be tough seeing your ex every family reunion."
"You know when I realized Lily was the one for James? When I called her a 'Mudblood' and she didn't want to jump my bones. I've plowed so many Muggleborn slags with that line. That's when I knew they were meant to be together. "

In actuality, any Gryffindor can receive the sword from the Sorting Hat. Given, of course, that they haven't surrendered and are willing to fight to the end for their ideals.

Sirius' motorcycle has been gravely underused, both in canon and in Malfoid AU. Give Dracaena Malfoy the ride of her life.

You know? I never wondered how Harry & Ginny's wedding looked like... I still don't... Here's Pottah' and Malfoy's wedding instead!
*The following is my interpretation of Harry and Draceana(Malfoid)'s wedding. Far warning, I took this one as my chance to be a total sap and cranked the sugar levels to 15. You may die.* Never had Harry been so nervous. After all he’d been through, he’d thought that this would be simple to face in comparison. Yet, standing at the end of the aisle, his future having yet to make her entrance, he could feel his heart doing its best to break out of his chest. So desperately was he looking for something to distract himself that he latched onto the first thing that he heard. A piano, playing the tune of a song they danced to at a ball ages ago, and for a moment he could let himself get lost in that memory. The smile she had then, one that she’d never shown him before, was one that she gave him almost everyday now, yet it still melted him just as it did that night. He could feel himself floating, even with feet firmly planted in the ground, and given the snickering of Ron behind him, it was clear his feeling wasn’t subtle. Neville, Seamus, and Dean joined in, their collective laugh contagious enough to spread to the Weasleys who were in the front row on Harry’s side. The sound pulled Harry back to the ground, but rather than scowl, he found some comfort in it. The sobs added some confusion, but as he turned to them, he understood. Hagrid stood off to the side of the Weaseleys, in front of a large chair that had been purposely moved to the venue just for him. He was always a soft heart, it was his greatest strength, what had endeared the man to Harry when he came barging into the Dursley’s house at what felt like a lifetime ago. At least it was tears of joy, though Harry could not bear to look at them for too long, lest he join the man in his display. As he turned away, he paused for a moment on Dudley, who stood right behind Mr. Weasley. Harry had sent an invitation to his foster family out of courtesy, never expecting anyone to arrive, but his cousin reached back out, and they began to talk. Old memories were tough to get through, but some measure of reconciliation had come about from their talks. The smile and thumbs up from Dudley gave Harry a vision at what Vernon would have been like if he was slimmer and truly jolly, and that gave the groom an odd comfort that he never saw coming, but took all the same. Narcissa Malfoy stood in the front row, opposite the Weasleys and the aisle seat next to hers was empty. She carried herself with her usual refined air, though the slight redness under her eyes had told Harry she’d shed the tears for this moment in private… for now, at least. Those who stood in the rows behind her, he was only vaguely familiar with from the functions that he’d been dragged to, but closer to the one he was waiting for. The same could be said in reverse about the ones who gathered behind the Weasleys. Still, he was grateful that he had requested a small wedding, which had agreed upon as the best option. No doubt an open venue would result in swarms of the press, but the back of the Malfoy’s Manor was both private and beautiful enough to serve as the perfect location. Honestly, he had thought the place was going to be more dreary than what he saw now, given the patriarchs usual demeanor. Yet, with the sun clear above them and the sky a vibrant blue, their garden had been turned into an isolated wonderland of faerie lights, trellises lined with roses red, white, and even green, and ribbons of silver that weaved throughout the venue. There were more decorations than just that, but just trying to process it all was making his head start to spin again. He looked back across from him, finding familiar faces again. Pansy Parkinson stood as the maid-of-honor, adorned in a dress of green that had highlights of red, like the rest of the bridesmaids did. She had reconnected with the bride shortly after graduation, reforming their friendship under shared tears and late nights of conversation. A wry smirk was on her face upon taking in Harry’s nearly trembling demeanor, but he wasn’t about to entertain her in that regard any more than he could. What still surprised him were those that stood behind her. Hermione, Luna, and Ginny were all smiles, waving at their husbands from across the aisle. Logic told him that this sight was an impossibility, but the earnest grins on their faces as they gave him a small wave eased his shoulders further. Professor McGonagall was the officiant of today’s union, the tale of Hogwarts’s own headmistress bullying the Ministry into granting her the certification still making Harry snort just from thinking about it. She stood prim and proper, like always, but the smile on her wizened face never left since she arrived. That was the final piece he needed to calm down. Only to fall apart when the music changed. A bright tune drifted through the venue upon Draceana’s entrance. Harry couldn’t find the words to describe her, even in his mind. All he knew was the sight of her took his breath away and nearly robbed the strength from his legs. Her dress was white, but sheened with silver, and was still in the simple, elegant style that she always preferred. A thin veil covered her face, he knew the moment it was lifted, he would have to keep himself from falling over. In her arm was a bouquet of the same roses that decorated the place around them, and in the other was Lucius, posture upright and gaze focused ahead. He wasn’t staring at Harry directly, but he could feel the father’s attention, no doubt to see if the man waiting for Draceana was going to make a mess of himself. Harry refused to give him the satisfaction of having such a memory, and straightened his back. Their procession down the aisle was deliberate, a pace that almost seemed chosen purposefully to drive Harry mad. He wanted nothing else but to rush down and kiss her there, but he contained himself, just barely. The punch on his shoulder from Ron didn’t help matters, and he knew his best man did that on purpose. When Draceana arrived at the front of the aisle, Lucious lifted her veil. Harry didn’t think she would get more beautiful, yet his prediction from earlier proved to be true. She looked at her father with a bright smile, and in a break from decorum, gave him a hug before stepping away and in front of her maid-of-honor, who flashed her a giddy grin upon taking her bouquet. Their eyes met, and he could see the tears swell in hers immediately. His own vision started to blur, but he blinked that away. McGonagall raised her hand to them all, and the music drifted to silence. “We are gathered here today to celebrate a union most unique, but one that is every bit as wonderful. I shall not dally and keep these two from their moment, but I ask that they take a moment to speak their vows.” Expectant stares fell upon Harry, but the weight of them melted away as he looked at Draceana. He was never much for words, but in this case, he found them. “I stand before a woman who, in those early years we knew each other, I never would have thought would be here in front me, but now know could be the only one I look upon. Ever since that Christmas night, your strength has always been with me, even when I was a fool who did not look when he should have.” Draceana’s arms began to tremble, and the tears in her eyes were on the verge of falling. Harry steadied his voice, finding only mild success. “I vow to give you that same strength, and more beyond that, to be the one that stands at your side through all the storms and trials that follow, for with your hand in mine, they will be nothing but a breeze to cool us. I, Harry, take you, Draceana, to be my wedded wife, to walk with and hold for the rest of this life and everything after; for better, for worse, and everything in between, for my heart will be with you, even in death. Always.” Draceana’s tears fell as she gathered herself with a trembling breath, squeezing her hands together. “You aren’t making this fair… but you never have, have you? There is so much I could say, so much that I have already said, that I could stand here until the sun rises and falls again, but in the end, that which sticks out in my mind most is a name. A name that I have spoken in spite, in mockery, in pain, in suffering, but a name that I said so much more in happiness and bliss, a sweet whisper that I kept to myself for so long to keep me strong.” Her voice started to crack, and now the tears fell freely down Harry’s face. “A name that you have chosen to give me, a name that I so desperately wished to take, and now… I will. I, Draceana, take you, Harry, to be my wedded husband, to lean on and support for every breath we share in this life and all the ones after; through the best of days, through the worst, and all that comes between, for our hearts will be intertwined. Always.” McGonagall cleared her throat and wiped her eyes. “Harry, do you take Draceana to be your lawfully wedded wife?” He looked Draceana clear in her eyes. “I do.” “And Draceana, do you take Harry to be your lawfully wedded husband?” The bride met his gaze. “I do.” McGonagall waved at the best man. “The rings, Weasely.” Ron coughed, and a small chuckle rippled through the crowd. “R-right.” Harry turned to his friend, who placed the rings, simple bands of gold and silver weaved together, into his hands and flashed him a wide grin. He returned the smile and clutched the rings as he turned around, wasting no time to slip one on Draceana’s finger. She was even faster. McGonagall raised her wand above them and gave it a twirl, showering them in a wave of soft light. “Then, by the power vested in me and all the headmasters before me, do I pronounce you Mr. and Mrs. Potter. Harry, you may now ki-” His lips were already on Draceana’s before the sentence was finished. Laughter and cheers roared around them, but in that moment, there may as well have been nobody else, for all that he wanted was in his hands. And he knew she thought the same.

Harry and Draceana should name a kid after Cedric, broest of bros. This trend is making miracles to the Hufflepuffs characterization too, just saying.
"Harry, one more thing." "Don't worry, Cedric. I'll get your body to your parents." "It's not that. I thought you should know the girl really likes you." "I didn't have the guts to invite Cho." "That's not who I meant, Harry. The Slytherin girl." "You can't be serious right now. Did Peeves possess your ghost? You're dead!" "Lucius was here today. Only you can stop Dracaena from following in his dark footsteps. Buy her a Butterbeer for me." "Cedric, I—" "See you, magic cowboy."

The knight-captain looked out the window, behind the lead helo, there were other two. Pitiful. The only force that could move unnoticed by the normal society to help the "good" wizards. This war was not a thing the Vatican could sit neutrally, whatever would happen in Hogwarts would have repercussions all around the world. Blessed swords, shields, armor and rifles. *Knight-captain:* "We'll make one circle then we'll drop at first chance, fast-roping. Double check your targets. There's kids down there, if you are not sure, target whatever the kids are casting at." *Pilot:* "We are past the non-caster repellant. Illusion breaker active. ETA 30 seconds." *Knight-captain:* "Look for the VIP from your lists. If you see a HVT that takes priority." *Pilot:* "Magic interference confirmed. Radio offline. Nav offline. ETA, 10 seconds." *Knight-captain:* "There's the castle... Heavenly Father..."
I have a running idea of the church and wizards being at-odds but both interested in keeping the latter hidden because the alternative is a global race war. Way I see it, there’s no shot the Vatican just forgot that magic existed. This culminates in knights of faith riding to battle for Hogwarts- seals burning in the wind as curses ricochet off their armour. It adds to the world, and grounds its contrivances. All while making the point that Voldemort wasn’t just an internal affair and that the people in the know were letting magic users deal with it themselves out of good faith.

Follow up, taking it a little more seriously, haha~
Every man had checked their ammo twice. Shields tightly secured to their arms, and rifles resting across their armored knees. The armor may had been modified over the centuries for modern use but there was no mistaking what it was. Plate over mail, closed helmets, heavy gauntlets. Each of the pieces hardened and tested against the magics of the wizards, as the Order had done since the times of Merlin. Finally they were blessed upon receiving them for the first time. The armor, their sword and rifle laid out; they didn't just trust the sturdy metal, but they had faith in His superior protection. The leading helo banked as the pilot saw a suitable place. Only static came through the intercom. Looking to the cockpit, the knight-captain saw the pilot communicate with hand signals that all electronics would cut soon, there would be no air support in this mission. ----- For several seconds the courtyard looked overwhelmed by the sight, there was no mistake they were knights, but the armor was not like the gothic statues that were fighting to defend the school. The twelve knights appeared to have stepped out from another era, and the shock did not dissipate before they recognized their first targets. The first few dark-robed wizards were killed before they could raise their sticks. The next ones barely managed to create bright glowing impenetrable bubbles around them. It was natural they believed they had solved the problem, but the knights didn't stop firing. Certainly the first few rounds struck the barriers and vanished into sparks, but the shooting didn't stop. When the seconds-long barrier expired, the burst from the rifles struck them just the same. There was no back and forth, no exchange of individual spells, that is the feature of magical dueling. The dance that was attacking, defensing and countering, the knights gave them no room for such things. The sound of rifle fire rolled through the courtyard, an intermittent thunder that was utterly alien to the castle or the aspect of the knights wielding them. Only then did the defenders start to understand what was happening. Several students began firing their own spells over the knights. Wizards and witches that had initially kept their distance moved closer, realizing that the armored soldiers were drawing an increasing amount of enemy fire toward themselves. Every time a curse or hex struck a shield or armor, the knight behind it absorbed the impact, staggered briefly, but remained standing. Pieces of stone flew around them, as many spells continued to be reflected downwards. One was sent flying several meters behind the firing line, just to stand up and run to formation once more. The captain noticed the spells that flew past them in the gap that was created, the friendly defenders behind them had finally spread the realization that they came to help and were shooting at the attackers. As such he ordered with hand signals to widen the formation, as to not obstruct the fire from the students and adults behind. The statues didn't stay idle from the action. Rather than rushing blindly forwards, they moved themselves in front of the armored men, and became yet another piece of the advancing line. The animated stone giving their "life" to absorb the casting of the hostiles on the retreating end. ----- There was finally some space in between the dark wizards casting and the knights. Occasionally they lined a shot towards the darkness, but the battle seemed to have taken a breath, at least on this side of the castle. The knights started to share the remaining ammunition. The Knight-captain approached a dark wizard that laid several meters away. He stepped on the stick that was next to his fingers, breaking it. This particular caster managed to sneak a curse that broke part of his shield, right before being suppressed by the other acolytes. Then knelt and seized the edge of the mask that covered the face. The face was just human, a simple man. His eyes were open, and his mouth hanged slightly open. The captain looked at the mask for another moment, before throwing it towards the nearest knight. "Casters wearing these are hostile." The other man caught it, looked at it once and passed it along the firing line. The information spread without ceremony. There was little time left to breathe, his team specialized in short engagement... shock and awe, overwhelming an enemy before it could understand what had happened. But this was a siege. Shock would only last for so long, ammunition for even less.
