Earlier this month, RI Commerce Corp met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) consul general based in New York and her commercial delegation to discuss potential opportunities around key industries such as medical, life sciences, the ocean economy, defense, and AI. Commerce Corp. Welcoming a new addition to the Conant Thread district of Pawtucket! Last week, a ribbon-cutting event was held at the Dexter Street Commons mixed-use complex located within a half mile of the Pawtucket/Central Falls train station. Secretary of Commerce @stefanpryor joined @GovDanMcKee, Mayor @DonGrebien, Secretary of Housing Deborah Goddard, and developer Peyser Real Estate Group to celebrate the completion of the project and its opportunity for both the City and our state. Commerce supported this transit-oriented project with more than $9.7 million in incentives, including through the First Wave Closing Fund and Rebuild Rhode Island Tax Credit programs. The development features 150 units with modern amenities including a fitness center, co-working space, and outdoor deck overlooking the City. Twenty percent of the units are designated for middle-income housing. Additionally, the ground floor of the complex will feature commercial spaces including a restaurant, world emporium marketplace, and a “Windows on Dexter” art gallery. Congratulations to the Peyser Group, and welcome to Dexter Street Commons' newest tenants!

Last week, Secretary @stefanpryor, members of the RI Commerce team, and @mfgri President and CEO Melissa Travis toured the Toray Plastics (America), Inc. headquarters in Quonset. The team saw the advanced film manufacturing facility in action and learned about the company’s current operations, energy sustainability efforts, and future opportunities. They also got to see Toray’s inspection robot, Hachi, reading noise levels, checking temperatures, and monitoring machinery. Pioneer in genome mapping expands in RI! Earlier today, Commerce Secretary @stefanpryor joined @nabsys Founder and CEO Barrett Bready and @GovDanMcKee in celebrating the announcement of the company’s new 30,000 sq ft headquarters. Located on the 7th floor of 225 Dyer St in the heart of the 195 Innovation District, the expansion will enable Nabsys to advance its leading-edge electronic genome mapping (EGM) technology. EGM enables comprehensive DNA analysis to help researchers better understand and treat complex diseases such as cancer and rare diseases. In April, the RI Commerce Corp board approved a $3 million Qualified Jobs award to support Nabsys’ creation of 243 new jobs over the next ten years. Nabsys has also received $1 million from the RI Life Science Hub to support the design and development of the new space. The company will be going before the @195District for additional funding. Congratulations to Dr. Bready and the Nabsys team on this important milestone!
