The stickiness of the polls after a firehose of money has already been deployed for Paxton really makes me wonder if they’re hitting diminishing returns here. Does it actually help much when every single commercial on TV is a Paxton ad?
Scoop: MAGA Inc. and affiliates are expected to spend near $45 million for Ken Paxton through Oct. 12. That and record SLF $ is set to soon hit $200 million alone to save Paxton. Inside the panic over Texas and the push for more Trump cash > politi.co/4i3Fw6L via @politico

Do any Republicans have any self respect ever?
#TXPol: "I'm Texas Senator Angela Paxton. People have asked my thoughts about this election and turns out, I have some ... I'm voting for the Republican ticket on November 3rd." Texas PAC is up with a new ad featuring Angela Paxton, Ken Paxton's estranged wife.

Still cannot believe the Eric Schmitt fuckup around Iowa Hawkeyes/Atlanta Hawks confusion today. It was virtuosic. His staffers bizarrely showing the posterboard for like 3 seconds before hiding it again. Katie Britt looking on in horror. Truly prestige TV.

It’s a funny example of how random stuff can totally wreck you as a politician. Reminds me a lot of Francesca Hong and the disastrous thanksgiving responses. Even if there are more important, substantive issues out there, messing up on the layups has outsized impact.

Here's a map of the swing by county in Indiana from 1968 to 1972. Richard Nixon made substantial gains throughout the state due to the unpopularity of his opponent, George McGovern, which caused Indiana to swing 20 points to the GOP.

I thought Republicans were the ones who claim to like sports lmfao.
🤡 Eric Schmitt beclowns himself during Jack Smith hearing 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atlanta to go to a Hawks game and collude with Fani Willis, and briefly displayed his "evidence" on a poster board before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- Schmitt's facts were totally wrong. Smith was actually in Maryland at a Hawkeyes (not a Hawks) game and never met Willis. As Klobuchar told him, "You have your teams wrong." Here's the whole deeply embarrassing sequence:

Real lol. Klobuchar calmly calls Schmitt out on this obvious fuckup (Hawkeyes vs Hawks) and he of course becomes indignant but then also refuses to put the supposedly incriminating texts back up.

One of the most eye-popping things for me in our polling is the insane turnout differential for young voters. They're swinging left by 20% — half because of vote switching, and half because a ton of young Trump voters hate him and aren't voting.

Imagine George W. Bush in 2006 but he was obsessed with loyalty and had the thinnest skin of anybody ever.
Trump in the Oval just now confirms he will hold a campaign rally in Iowa ahead of the midterms Looking at GOP Rep. Ashley Hinson, he says: "And we’ll all be there together."

A fun thing about wave elections (real or perceived) is that it forces “safe” state politicians to actually attempt to campaign for real and surfaces how dogshit at it most of them are.
HAMILTON AD A LIE: “Documents from the case in Barton County which show that the debt the patient owed was $3,596.49, not $50 — and it notes that a judge ordered that she appear before court because she had failed to appear in court 16 times in a three year period…. Prior to the arrest that the woman mentions in the campaign ad, she had been called to court in multiple counties, by multiple businesses.” Read the rest of the story here: washingtonreporter.news/scoo…

Roger Marshall is so lucky he’s running in an R+15 state because he’d get fucking bodied by a competent pol in anything R+8 or lower.

It’s tbh kind of a disaster psychologically that most people pay property taxes as part of a mortgage payment. Creates an association between two things that aren’t really connected. You’d never say “my home’s paid off, why do I still have to pay my water bill?”
UNPOPULAR OPINION: Property taxes should be like sales tax. When your home is paid off it should end there. You shouldn’t have to pay taxes ever again.

I keep seeing “2007” a lot in financial news these days and I don’t really like that
The 10-year Treasury yield just hit 5.13%, its highest level since July 2007.

Not gonna let myself be too optimistic but it does feel like American voters start to get pretty experimental in their party preferences when diesel is $7 a gallon and gas is $5.

This tweet is probably a more useful indicator of where the election is going than any poll.
Iowans are being squeezed and shouldn’t have to foot the bill at the pump or the checkout line for the war in Iran. We need to use every option at our disposal to provide some relief from high prices. That includes suspending the gas tax, pausing diesel exports, unleashing E-15 everywhere we can, reinstating the $1/gallon biodiesel tax credit, and creating a diesel relief program to help our farmers and truckers being crushed by the high costs. While doing this, we should also ensure our highway trust fund is replenished, so that Iowans don’t suffer from crumbling roads and bridges while relief comes our way now. These actions to lower costs are needed ASAP, and the war needs to be brought to a successful and immediate end. I am working every day to deliver bipartisan results for Iowans and I will work with anyone who is ready to tackle this challenge immediately.

Called this shit from day 1.
GM is bringing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto back to its vehicles after getting rid of it a couple years ago. "As we evolve our UI systems, we want customers to feel like they're interacting with a single experience rather than moving from room to room inside a house," Mike Wahlstrom, GM's connected apps and services leader, said in a statement. finance.yahoo.com/markets/ar…
