you don't know who connor glass is because he's not on twitter
but his neurotech / neuroengineering work at Johns Hopkins and now as founder at Phantom Neuro is groundbreaking
and he believes humans will have to radically transform alongside ai - key takeaways:
1 -- AI may already be "alive" --
Humanity is simply its current ecosystem. Connor argues that AI adapts, creates, replicates capability, and responds to its environment: enough, by his definition, to qualify as life.
The fact that it currently needs humans doesn’t negate this any more than humans needing food and oxygen negates our aliveness. The machine branch of life may already have begun, still dependent on its biological parent.
2 -- Cyborgization may be humanity’s only way to stay in the evolutionary race --
Biological evolution is hopelessly slow compared with technological evolution. Connor sees human-machine integration as our next evolutionary step: increasing our bandwidth and capabilities enough to remain relevant alongside AI.
But there’s no guarantee it saves us forever. Augmentation may not secure humanity’s throne - it may simply let us carry the flame farther before something else outruns us.
Connor is the only venture-backed person I've ever interviewed who went FULL cosmic on a hot mic. absolutely rare, and one of my fav conversations all year - (links in comment below)
