A tragic story in Seymour, WI. A family has suffered what they call an “unimaginable loss” after their farm burned to the ground and was declared a total loss. According to scanner audio, the Oconomowoc Police are investigating a shooting that occured last night. A group of teenagers likely participating in the homecoming wars targeted a residence and reportedly stole cats from the house. The homeowner fired numerous shots at the fleeing group of teenagers with a rifle. No injuries were reported.

KENOSHA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE District Attorney Xavier Solis ILLEGAL ALIEN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER AFTER STABBING WOMAN TWICE IN THE HEAD — $1 MILLION CASH BOND SET The Kenosha County District Attorney’s Office has charged Jair Ome-Munoz, 40, with Attempted First-Degree Intentional Homicide while Using a Dangerous Weapon, Domestic Abuse Disorderly Conduct, and Disorderly Conduct following a September 20, 2026 incident. According to the criminal complaint, Ome-Munoz retrieved a knife from his vehicle during an altercation and stabbed a woman twice in the head. One eyewitness told police that she heard Ome-Munoz state, “I am going to kill her,” before seeing him approach the victim with a knife and stab her in the left temple and back of her head. The victim required five stitches to her temple and four staples to the back of her head. The victim told investigators that Ome-Munoz also threatened, “I am going to kill you for being nosey” and “I am going to kill you for being a snitch.” Ome-Munoz admitted to investigators that he went to his vehicle, retrieved a knife, returned to the group, and raised the knife over his head. He stated that he did not remember what happened afterward and admitted consuming approximately 15 beers. At Ome-Munoz’s initial appearance, District Attorney Xavier Solis requested a $1,000,000 cash bond. The court granted the State’s request and set cash bail at $1 million. THREE YEARS EARLIER: FELONY CHARGE, MISDEMEANOR CONVICTION This was not Ome-Munoz’s first contact with the Kenosha County criminal justice system. On December 5, 2023, Ome-Munoz was booked into the Kenosha County Jail after being charged with felony retail theft in Kenosha County Case No. 23CF1861. He was released from the jail the following day. The criminal complaint charged Ome-Munoz with a Class I felony after he and another individual stole $529.37 in merchandise from the Somers Walmart. Both men admitted attempting to steal the merchandise despite having the means to pay. Despite the original felony charge, under the prior Democratic leadership of the District Attorney’s Office, Ome-Munoz was ultimately permitted to resolve the case with a misdemeanor retail-theft conviction. IMMIGRATION HISTORY According to federal immigration information verified by the District Attorney’s Office, Ome-Munoz is a Colombian national illegally present in the United States who was arrested at the El Paso border in 2023. The prior Democratic leadership of the District Attorney’s Office had information concerning Ome-Munoz’s immigration status during his earlier Kenosha County prosecution. Nevertheless, his felony case was reduced to a misdemeanor. No ICE detainer was lodged at the Kenosha County Jail, and Ome-Munoz was released rather than being transferred to federal immigration authorities. The 2023 case and Ome-Munoz’s subsequent return to the criminal justice system illustrate the significant policy differences between the prior administration and the current District Attorney’s Office. District Attorney Xavier Solis issued the following statement: “This case is a clear example of why policies changed when I became District Attorney. The prior Democratic leadership had information that this defendant was illegally in the United States, yet his felony case was reduced to a misdemeanor and he was released without an ICE detainer being lodged at the jail. The public deserves to know the complete history of defendants accused of serious violent crimes. This defendant was arrested at the border, was illegally present in this country, and later entered the Kenosha County criminal justice system. Under my administration, we cooperate with federal immigration authorities and provide them information concerning defendants who are illegally present in this country. We will continue to treat violent crime with the seriousness it demands. Public safety comes first.” The current attempted-homicide charge remains pending.

RACINE: Two area doctors were recognized as Healthcare Heroes during a ceremony at Ascension All Saints hospital Sept. 18. Dr. Paul Durbin is an internal medicine physician for Ascension Medical Group and Dr. Patricia Golden is chief medical officer for Ascension Medical Group. They were nominated by residents and selected by the First Congressional District's Healthcare Advisory Board, made up of healthcare professionals. Nominees were evaluated based on service, dedication and selflessness. Durbin and Golden each received certificates of congressional recognition from the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Bryan Steil recognized Durbin for 28 years of service in the Racine community. He also read a portion of Durbin's nomination letter, which detailed the doctor's passion for care outside medicine. Durbin and his wife of 31 years are the parents of eight children and have fostered 10 children. They are currently caring for three children younger than 3. "Because of their specialized training, they’re certified to care for the medically complex foster children, providing stability, love and expert care to children facing significant medical and social challenges," the nomination said. Durbin is also involved with the HALO in Racine, which supports and provides services for the community's homeless population. "It's quite an honor. Correction: Kenosha bar shooting (Shenanigans) Kenosha police say a 45-year-old shot and killed a father of three inside a Kenosha bar, fled and then opened fired on officers as they were arriving to the area. Correction: police shot and injured the shooter. Kenosha Police Chief Patrick Patton said the shooting suspect ambushed the officers, hitting the officer's squad car multiple times with gunfire. The officer was able to get out of the car and engage the suspect. Another officer then arrived and also opened fire on the suspect.
