I've read two novel series where the main character has the pseudonym Palidin based on the TV show "Have Gun, Will Travel" which had most of its run before my father was born. Both novel series are in the last 10 years. Very odd.

Behind a school bus. Child gets out. This child is completely dependent on the bus driver to safely convey her to and from school. Once at school the child is dependent on at least one teacher and then lunch staff, at the bare minimum. Once a year, someone from a photography agency comes and catalogs her. Once every couple of years, the sheriff might come and fingerprint her. (For her safety of course.) She will be educated by people who are inferior to her parents and who care for her less.
How is this normal?
Our education system is the gradual normalization of an insane set of actions no one in their right mind would accept in isolation, but as an amalgamation and over time this has become "standard" while homeschooling and apprenticeship have become unusual. This is wrong. Children belong at home with people who love them raising them. Older people belong at home too-as auxiliary care for when mom and dad are otherwise occupied. This is good for children and good for the aging grandparents.
People are not profit centers. Not everything must become a service. We need to return to the family structure that allowed us to become the pinnacle of the world. It is not normal for the aging and dying to be cared for by foreigners in their final years. It is not normal for the aging to blow their inherited wealth from their own parents in their final years. It is not normal for a home to cost this much. It is not normal for a car to cost this much. It is not normal for what passes for food these days to cost this much.

In the centuries leading up to Europe's heyday, it hanged 1% of each generation
Practically every crime beyond the most petty minor offenses were capital crimes, and that was rigorously enforced. Horse thieves, robbers, murderers, and the like faced not "probation" given to them by a pro-crime judge, but the gallows and gibbet. And they faced it for centuries, from roughly the High Middle Ages to the Georgian period (the Victorians were soft on crime compared to their ancestors)
Resultantly, serious crime mostly faded away. There are always pickpockets and serial killers, to some extent at least, but things like armed robbery can be mostly solved with consistent enough application of the gallows, as it plucks the crime genes out of the population
Because it was freed from the burden of rampant crime, Western civilization could focus on doing great and noble things instead of endlessly subsidizing a criminal underclass
We, on the other hand, have devoted every resource imaginable to subsidizing that criminal underclass that commits all the crime

I legit think the death penalty when life in prison is an option is wrong, and its one of the positions I corrected when I accepted our Lord. God has blessed me with political enemies that allow me to enjoy supporting the death penalty with a clean conscience.

A man who K*LLED his own landlord was just allowed to walk out of a Virginia mental facility on a "weekend pass"...
...and used it to board a ONE-WAY international flight out of the country.
He is GONE. And he is not coming back.
His name is Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda.
Back in 2019, police say he k*lled his landlord. When investigators showed up, they found him covered in blood.
He was found "not guilty by reason of insanity" and committed to the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute in 2022.
Under Virginia law, that facility was allowed to hand this man UNESCORTED weekend and day passes. No guard. No escort. Just... go, and please come back.

So on July 6, he took his little weekend pass, drove to Dulles Airport, and boarded a one-way flight to Tajikistan.
Someone even bought his ticket for him. In his name. With a window seat.
It gets worse.
The prosecutors had actually OPPOSED letting him out in June. They warned it was a public safety risk. But they say once it's out of court, they have NO say in what the facility decides.
So the people whose JOB is public safety said "no"... and a mental health facility overrode them and gave a blood-soaked accused murderer a pass to leave.
And the cherry on top? Prosecutors didn't file to get a cross-border warrant until August 5th.
A FULL MONTH after he was already gone!!!!
He's now in a country with no extradition.
He is never seeing an American courtroom again.
An accused m*rderer just escaped justice completely... because a bureaucracy gave him a weekend pass and nobody stopped him.

Just ban the dog, require extermination of them when they entire a pound, require all current owners to spay/neuter, and charge people a with a felony upon their breeding and sale. The only people who should be allowed to own them should be those who have a restrictive license for a specific purpose, ie boar hunting.
This guy makes an important point. Yes pits can be good dogs. They can be well trained and never engage in violence, but they all have the capacity for serious violence. When people say “it’s not the breed it’s the owner” they’re letting you know they don’t view their dog with the appropriate level of seriousness. They’re letting you know they’re the owner you need to avoid.

The Catholic portion that the death penalty is immoral assumes a functioning legal system. We don't have one. Murderers and rapists should all hang because half the judges and politicians insist on letting these freaks walk free.
