The most interesting thing about this clip isn’t that it’s AI, it’s that people claim to remember having seen this film when they were little.

I don’t know what to think about the new Russian virus propaganda but if the reptilian saturn worshipping communists played the long con where they first released Covid (fake) and then the vaccine that killed you specifically to train me into distrusting viruses and vaccines so they could later release an actually deadly one that would kill me without treatment knowing I would rather die than take a vaccine because the point was now to cull the insubordinates then they have succeeded and I will perish.

Come spend a day at Durupınar with us. The drilling team had just reached about 4 meters down when they hit something hard. The drill can’t get through solid rock, so everything stops while they figure out what they’ve hit. Andrew takes a look, and it could be a piece of basalt, there are basalt boulders scattered around the site, but the team won’t know until they examine it properly. So they document it, label it, bag the sample and send it off for testing. The team is currently drilling in an area where some of the interesting subsurface features show up deeper down, around 7 meters. So we keep going. Meter by meter, sample by sample.

Recess exists because two writers lost a fight over how mean Angelica Pickles should be. Paul Germain co-created Rugrats. His son inspired Tommy. Angelica came from a real bully in his childhood, and he wanted to write her that way. His team started penning darker episodes exploring why a three-year-old torments the babies. Co-creator Arlene Klasky hated it. She thought Angelica was too cruel and the storylines too mature. Critics praised those exact episodes. The rift over one cartoon character split the creative team behind the biggest kids' show on TV. So Germain walked. He took Joe Ansolabehere, story editor of the first 65 Rugrats episodes, straight to Disney. Their new show kept the same core trick, kids running a hidden society adults never see, and aged it up to fourth grade. Germain named the school after Third Street, the real elementary school his own kids attended. The playground ran like a prison yard out of The Great Escape, complete with a king and a warden. It premiered on ABC 29 years ago this week and became the network's biggest Saturday morning hit of the late 90s. The 2001 movie pulled $44.5M. Two of the defining cartoons of the 90s, and the wall between them is an argument about a cartoon toddler.
29 years ago today, ‘Recess’ premiered on ABC.
