The UK is learning from Ukraine by getting live battlefield data to train AI.
There is a lot Australia can learn. A partnership with Ukraine is not foreign aid. It is basic defence.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese @AlboMP and I signed a bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and Australia, opening up even more opportunities to deepen our partnership. Today, Australia also announced a new $60 million defense contribution for energy, protective equipment, and humanitarian assistance. I thanked the Prime Minister for this important support and assured him that Ukraine, in return, is ready to share our experience and technologies. Naval drones, ground platforms, and AI-powered systems – all of these go far beyond purely combat applications and can significantly strengthen national security. We agreed that our teams will work on preparing a Drone Deal.
Australia has also introduced a new sanctions package targeting Russia’s accomplices and shadow fleet vessels. This is a very appropriate signal at a time when there are attempts in Europe to remove Putin’s oligarchs from sanctions lists. I thank the Prime Minister, the Government, and all of Australia for their unwavering support!

Good morning from Ukraine.
This is the view from the windows of the EU Delegation today. Buildings nearby are burning.
This morning, russia attacked two petrol stations and warehouses in Kyiv. It also targeted the capital’s railway infrastructure.
Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, head of Ukrainian Railways, reported that a railway worker returning home after his shift was hit by shrapnel. He is now in hospital.
An ordinary man, returning from work. That is how civilians become victims of this war.
Civilian trains and railway facilities are burning. People travelling to work or returning home are being attacked. More than 260 Ukrainian locomotives have been hit in 2026 alone.
This is the reality of war. It is ugly, brutal and deeply tragic.
If you woke up in peace today, my friends, do not take it for granted.

Macau was supposed to show how China would handle an “obedient” special admin region, compared with “rebellious” Hong Kong. Macau’s reward? Worse repression than HK.
Those that claim “if only HK didn’t oppose China things would’ve been different” can therefore shut the f*** up.
Macau has held its first-ever national security trial behind closed doors—a step not yet taken in Hong Kong’s major national security trials.
On 16 September, veteran pro-democracy lawmaker Au Kam San, 69, was tried in complete secrecy. The proceedings concluded in just three days, with no public scrutiny of the evidence or legal arguments. He faces up to 25 years in prison.
While international attention is focused on the trials of the Hong Kong Alliance and Joshua Wong, we must not overlook what is happening in Macau.
The erosion of civil liberties extends beyond Hong Kong. Macau deserves our attention, too.
