He pulled up the requirements page, did the math on his portfolio, closed the tab, and never brought it up again. He wasn't rejected. He just never applied. The number on the page made the decision for him before he even tried. That's the quiet mechanic behind most VIP programs in crypto. They're not designed to be denied, they're designed to be self-selecting. Put $100,000 in assets as the line, and most people filter themselves out without anyone having to say no. So here's the question worth sitting with: what if the line just wasn't there? No Line to Cross MEXC's VVIP relaunch removes the asset and volume requirement entirely. No specified balance to hit, no 30-day trading volume to hit before the system even looks at you. Every eligible user starts with an initial M-Score of 350, which places them straight into Standard, the entry tier. Compare that to what's standard elsewhere as of September 2026: Binance VIP1 requires $100,000 in assets. Bybit VIP1 requires $100,000 in assets. Bitget VIP1 requires 30,000 USDT in assets. OKX VIP1 requires $100,000 in assets. MEXC Standard requires $0. My friend never got that far on other platforms. Under this model, he wouldn't have had to. But Here's the Part That Actually Matters Free entry sounds good in a headline. It's almost meaningless on its own. A door that costs nothing to walk through still needs something worth finding on the other side, otherwise "zero threshold" is just a nicer way of saying there was never anything here to gate. Elite trial passes don't count toward cashback tiers either, so a temporary bump in access isn't a temporary bump in reward. Small print, but the kind that separates a real number from a marketing one. Back to the Tab He Closed I think about that afternoon a lot, not because it was dramatic, it wasn't. He just did the math, saw a number he wasn't going to hit anytime soon, and moved on. That's the whole story with most VIP programs. The filtering happens silently, before anyone ever gets a chance to see what's on the other side of the line. What's actually worth asking, about this program or any other, isn't "is there a threshold." It's two questions held together: what does it take to get in, and once you're in, is there anything there. A program that's free to join but empty at the entry tier hasn't really solved the problem.
