Wow. One of my fav authors liked my novel!
One of the most fun and original books I’ve read in years. Excellent storytelling. See for yourself.

I love that "candle fly" is an old name for moths. So much poetry and imagery condensed into two words.

Why I'll never use gen ai? Thinking is living. I prefer to own the substance of my lifetime, not just lease it from a tech company. And I can’t imagine thinking so little of myself that I could accept an artificial substitute for honest human connection.

There were periods of my life when I was a shark stuck in a lawn chair. I felt doomed and totally unequipped to deal with the world. But the problem wasn’t me. The problem was that I was trapped in a context that made my strengths feel like weaknesses.

Just block AI apologists. Why would you spend actual human effort arguing with somebody who has made outsourcing their thinking/writing to a machine their big passion? Who would you really be arguing with? Might as well put sunglasses on a lamp and spend time arguing with that.

Which animals can "haunt" without dying first? Foxes? Deer? Jellyfish?

If you use AI for any part of your writing process, just go ahead and have AI simulate a reader response too. What's the difference? (1/3)

Seems pretty clear that you don't actually value the human creation/connection component of the writer/reader relationship, so why bother with the inconvenience of real readers? It's all the same right? (2/3)

Save yourself the hassle. Just generate some fan-mail and leave those of us who care about authentically participating in our own art and lifetimes out of it. Win/Win! (3/3)

Sharks make excellent pets if you follow this simple two-step care guide. 1: Leave them in the ocean. 2: Visit them in your imagination to give them daily compliments.

You can love yourself and still desire to change. I love my garden, but I plant new things constantly. My love doesn't require immutability.

I think facing the cenobites or the xenomorph or the Babadook would be easier if you had Scooby Doo around trying to pronounce their names.

Ah, you criticize AI on a platform that uses AI? Interesting. Ah, you criticize drunk driving while using the same roads as drunk drivers? Interesting. Ah, you’re against murder, but breathe the same air as murderers? Interesting. I am skilled at crafting relevant arguments.

I wrote a fantasy novel that sounds like a nature book (Strange Animals) and a nature book that sounds like a horror (Something in the Woods Loves You).

“You’re 45, so it’s time to get a colonoscopy.” Cold. Impersonal. Uninspiring. “Two score and five autumns have cooled your brow, so we must search your corn-maze for haunts.” Mysterious. Fun. Seasonal.

Hey, go visit my page. I write books about nature AND cozy/creepy fantasy. If I'm gonna have a popular post about colonoscopies, I at least need to draw a little attention to my non-butt-related writings.
