Bitcoin’s exchange flows are showing a major shift.
On September 22, Binance recorded more than 13,800 BTC in net outflows in a single day, its largest daily outflow since 2023.
Binance’s BTC reserves then fell from around 705,000 BTC to 685,000 BTC over the following four days.
Large withdrawals can indicate investors moving BTC into self-custody or longer-term storage, reducing the amount immediately available to sell on exchanges.
We’d still avoid treating exchange outflows alone as proof of accumulation, as coins can also be moved for custody, institutional or other reasons.
What makes the move worth watching is the combination of falling exchange balances and Bitcoin holding above the $82K area.
If these outflows continue while demand remains strong, the amount of BTC readily available on exchanges could continue to shrink.
