People don't understand that society can get more 'advanced', i.e. productive/wealthy while simultaneously people get more miserable. The industrial revolution was a great example of this. Society has to make a choice that the population's living standards have to rise in tandem, it doesn't just happen.

It's pretty obvious social media generally hurts people's happiness, and that leaving it to personal choice is irresponsible since it has been developed in such a way to mostly circumvent our ability to make rational choices regarding it, much like gambling or drug use. But what makes it essentially impossible to act upon is that most leaders voice strength and coverage is based upon their skill in social media, which they gain a living from.

You decide who gets to call you, based on holdings, badges, or whatever criteria you choose. Make it as exclusive and complex, or as simple and open, as you want. You’re in control. And this is just the beginning. Our next move is about to bring a whole lot more noise. Stay tuned.

Why would anybody trust what any of these AI companies claim, they are so heavily incentiviesed to pretend that AGI has arrived ( not a defined term anyway), it's marketing (lying) dressed up as scientific breakthroughs. Still good tech though.
