My first ever dog was a Rottweiler but I had forgotten just how powerful they are. Here’s TPD Ronnie who just seems to float over obstacles.

OUR PUPPY WALKERS ARE WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN GOLD. TPD Harley no longer attacking the mop or barking at cows. Some Forces place puppies with Instructors to run on which is good. But can they give a puppy what our puppy walkers can every day?

Outfit. I think ‘caged’ is a bit harsh they love being with their handler whether in a vehicle or otherwise. Our handlers would love to be doing high vis foot patrols with their best mate. The reality is an ever increasing workload & fewer officers makes it difficult to do.
Why don’t we see trained dogs and handlers patrolling our town centres rather than being caged in the back of cars and trucks ?

Start of week 3 and the dogs are clearly loving the course so far. Rear left Instructor Lee with TPD Inca, rear right Ben with TPD Frank, front left Leianne with TPD Kensa and front right Porche with TPD Milo.

Week 3 of the GP Initial course starts today. They started their environmental heel work in week 1 which is something they will do most days throughout the course. It’s important that our dogs are relaxed & confident in busy urban areas.

Sadly Will and TPD Bertie couldn’t join us for training yesterday because of work commitments. TPD’s Harley, TPD Beorn & the new boys brothers TPD’s Zak & TPD Keegan enjoyed the day.

Absolutely, and on top of our full time walkers we have lots of temporary walkers who step in to help the existing puppy walkers when they go on holiday so the pups don’t have to go into kennels. Priceless 👌👏
The work put in by the puppy walkers creates such a strong bond and trust, rarely forgotten. It is the foundations for confident dogs, upon which everything else can be built.💪❤️🐾

TPD Kensa has big shoes to fill because she is taking over from Leianne’s previous Police dog who has just retired. Leianne puppy walked TPD Kensa and I have no doubt that TPD Kensa will fill those shoes.

TPD Frank was puppy walked by Ben a Plymouth Police officer and is now on the Initial course with Ben who has successfully passed his assessment to become a Police dog handler.

TPD Inca is being trained by our Initial course Instructor Lee because she doesn’t have her own handler. Hopefully she will successfully complete the course and will then wait for an appropriate handler who needs a dog. At weekends she goes back to her puppy walkers.

Alex puppy walked 15 month old TPD Milo for the first couple of months of his time in the puppy program but he clearly remembered him on Monday this week
