🇵🇭 reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the right to development at the High-Level Meeting commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Declaration on the Right to Development.
DFA Assistant Secretary Leila C. Lora-Santos underscored that human rights and development are mutually reinforcing, interdependent, and indivisible. She highlighted the country’s people-centered approach under the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028, with investments in health, education, social protection, food security, infrastructure, digital transformation, and climate resilience.
As countries confront shared challenges— from climate change and disasters to digital divide— the Philippines emphasized that international cooperation and solidarity remain essential, alongside respect for national priorities and development pathways.
The Philippines also reaffirmed the responsibility of States to advance the right to development and its support for stronger South-south and triangular cooperation, and continued work toward a legally binding international instrument on the right to development.
