We're naming today, 9-25, Dolly Parton Day in Washington, DC. Dolly Parton showed generations of people that a legacy is measured not only by the songs written or accolades earned, but also by what we give to others. That legacy is especially reflected in our Books from Birth partnership with Dolly's Imagination Library, which has delivered nearly four million books to more than 100,000 DC children over the past decade. #DGSDelivers— We are proud to celebrate the $67M Malcolm X ES in #Ward8 joined by @MayorBowser, the honorable eldest daughter of Malcolm X, Ambassador Attallah Shabazz, artists, & more. “We are especially proud of how the DGS Percent for Art Program brought history to life through artwork that is now part of the everyday experience for anyone, even before they walk through the doors,” said Director Hunter.

The second-oldest neighborhood library in DC is back open. Since I took office in 2015, all 26 DCPL locations have been funded, rebuilt, or renovated. We know how important our libraries are to our communities, and this is a beautiful representation of what we've been able to achieve together. We encourage you to check out the Southeast Library for yourself!
