DS2LE Path tracing build is now on Nexus as V_0.1. Here are some sample shots. Whole game should be playable end to end. Thanks to all the members from community who were part of the project.

Dark Souls Lighting Engine retweeted
One thing that always disappointed me about DSR is how they did nothing to address the flatness of the trees in the game. I didn't quite model individual branches in my approach but I gave them much more needed "volume" on top of applying the wind animation shader on em here.

This is the default one.

Dark Souls 2/3 Lighting Engine will always be impressive with how it completely replaces a game's renderer and lighting, eventually including path tracing too However I am disappointed in Ragevitamins, the developer, for integrating DLSS 5. This AI slop filter has no place here
sad to say I won't be working on any more DS2LE based stuff. nor will I make a full visual mod using DS3LE when its released. I can't support a platform that would add DLSS 5. Not that it's a big deal since plenty of other great presets exist. But I will take no part.

There are some things we can’t control. The tech just exists now, and I appreciate you sharing your neutral stance on it. You’ve done amazing work on the rest of the mod. I don’t think it’s fair at all to give you shit for implementing something fully optional.

Thank you. For me this also makes the integration more performant and higher stability, although the entire tech is still very unstable, prone to artifacts, strobing.

Even if the day comes when nobody got you, I always got you, LE guy. All this moral peacocking over an optional feature is frankly embarrassing. You try to make the game look good and that's why we like your work. Nobody comes here for lessons on what to think or believe in.

Thanks, yeah this is not a critical/required feature for PT. This just creates division, For me DS3LE-PT is currently most important thing and all these things are distraction.

DS3LE-COTD WIP. Lot of bug fixes in BVH and tech perspective. Testing is going well. Slowly fixing issues in area one at a time

Will the final version support ultrawide resolutions or at least allow us to get to the menu to change resolution?

That’s something I have to work on properly

I don't think DLSS 5 enhances it either, the AI filter doesn't have the information it needs so its changes and adjustments are universal, it makes everything look same-y. Stuff like giving characters' faces intense studio lighting

There is some local "tonemapping" it does like exposing dark areas a bit better. This is a bit complicated to implement manually

I've loathed DLSS 5 since it was announced, then the leak happened and I saw just how bad it is with people injecting it into any game I don't know what happened, it had universal pushback when the announcement happened but now I'm seeing so many people seemingly okay with it

Whatever happens on social media whether it was boosted I am not sure , regardless after I tried it , I can be confident this tech is not gonna replace path tracing , in fact it works better with path tracing than without it

I don't dislike you, I only dislike the way you've handled this. Everybody involved in this has given you your flowers for the amazing work you've done on LE. None of this changes that, but what it *does* is associate any modders related to the project with that decision.

Lot of actual graphics enthusiasts don't like this technology, there is nothing wrong in how I have handled. The only 2 ppl I have responded to is you and Rin, because I actually care due to our interactions in the past. Ppl will continue to make DS3 mods. As I have said DS3 will look lot better with newer texture and preset work.

Okay, I went back to check, and FromSoftServe literally didn't say that. He said the opposite of that in his second post in the thread:
Replying to @fromsoftserve
it's of course not turned on by default, but it's still disgusting. I absolutely will not spend hundreds and hundreds of hours creating content for a platform that actively supports the horseshit that is DLSS 5. It's disrespectful to Fromsoft in my view.

At this point you are just looking for a reason to just dislike me, when all this is just water, oh I am ok with AI but only what I think is right, "my opinion is best opinion"

'Policing' is an over-reaction to what's happening; you aren't being booted off of any platforms, or losing access, you're just receiving replies critical of your response/content. At most, it's protest--but I think even that's stretching it too far. Really, it's just scrutiny.

Moral policing, English is not my first language nor do I care to be proper about it, I will use the grammar I know
21
Other plenty great presets exist means exactly what?
30
I think it's ugly and a bad technology to promote with your mod, and I think other people agree with that. I think normalizing its implementation is bad. I think it's evidently draining the mod's reputation, and that you're mishandling that reasonable criticism.

I think I am handling it just fine. Not everyone can be made happy with way things are and that's ok for me
21
I think both iterations of Dark Souls Lighting Engine looking as good as they do, especially with path tracing, makes the inclusion of DLSS 5 of any form even more unnecessary, this is on top of me just hating DLSS 5 as a concept on principle.

Still doesn't give you any right to police other ppl's work and feelings.

I mean, it's funny you say that, considering you feel the need to keep clarifying it's not DLSS5 in the replies now, so clearly this is a problem you feel the need to manage:
Replying to @DS2LightingMod
Note for clarification none of these progress shots are with DLSS-5(NR). If it is used I will specifically indicate it was used rather than indicate "No-DLSS5" in every post I make

We have had good interactions in the past, but there comes a point where you are taking things out of context and too far , regarding what you think is proper and this is how the world should behave.
16
If you don't like DLSS5 then why have you been posting before-and-after screenshots about it, and marketing it as a feature? I think your reasoning for including it is odd, and doesn't hold up to scrutiny. So, seeing you agree with me that it's bad, I recommend removing it.
1
49
I posted 2 times I think? How else would I show what it is doing and what it is not ? I see no reason to remove it. Ppl who want to use it will use and ppl who do not will not. I am not gonna virtue signal/gatekeep around this.

People using DLSS5 injection mods aren't 'making your mod look bad' any more than *you* puttng DLSS5 into the official version of the mod are. As I've said; it's not just about frame-rate, it's about artistic integrity and ethics. DLSS5 is unpopular for a very good reason.
1

Yes I would rather I do it in a clean way than whatever the injection mods are doing.
18
I think you're hiding behind a handful of fans to justify the inclusion of a tech you clearly feel defensive of/have passion for. Like, I'd rather you just say 'I think it's interesting/wanted to include it for myself', instead of acting like you're beholden to those people.

Dude, DLSS5 is 'the trend' that is being chased here. You are the one chasing a trend here, rather than considering what implementations will/won't be good for the project.

It was also implemented a month after the initial leak, for me it takes half a day to do this integration actually.
