Fighting for Michigan PAC, the outside group spending to elect El-Sayed, took $300,000 from his father-in-law, Tayeb Jukaku, $175,000 from CAIR Action’s Unity & Justice Fund, and $25,000 from ACMER.
His campaign committee separately collected $129,693 from CAIR officers and affiliates, $33,550 from the Barakat family, and $7,000 from Mohamed Soltan.

Jukaku has sat on ISNA’s founding committee since at least 2007. He was President of CAIR-Michigan from 2005 to 2010 and is still on that board.
In 2007, prosecutors named ISNA and CAIR unindicted co-conspirators in United States v. Holy Land Foundation. HLF’s leaders were convicted of sending about $12 million to Hamas. A 2009 ruling said DOJ had “ample evidence” of ISNA’s and CAIR’s associations with Hamas.
Amani Barakat chairs Al-Awda. After October 7, Al-Awda sent “highest salutations to the Palestinian Resistance.” She eulogized Hamas spokesman Abu Obaida, praised a stabbing of Israeli civilians as “Bravery at its finest!”, and called the convicted Holy Land Five “five finest men you will ever meet in federal prison.” Al-Awda has worked with Samidoun, which Treasury designated in October 2024 as a PFLP fundraising front.
Unity & Justice Fund is CAIR Action’s post-October 7 super PAC. It later claimed credit for helping elect El-Sayed. Soltan chairs ACMER. A Cairo court gave him life in 2015 for supporting the Muslim Brotherhood after the Morsi coup. His father was Morsi’s deputy minister of endowments.
