Happy heavenly birthday Sylvester! Making an unsung imprint on disco music’s early electronic sound with “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” the openly gay artist cultivated the euphoria of the discotheque world and was a vanguard of 1970s queer and drag culture.
“Stormy Weather” taken from Sylvester’s album of jazz standards, Private Recordings, recorded by pianist Peter Mintun, on an August afternoon in 1970. The release documents the earliest known recordings from one of disco’s greatest & most pioneering LGBTQ artists, stripped down in all his vocal glory.
