Marion County, Florida — A deputy conducted a traffic stop of a dirt bike. The driver, later identified as 26-year-old Rasheem Edwards, could not produce a valid form of ID. During the traffic stop, Edwards fled on foot toward a field where a youth sports practice was being held. The deputy gave chase and, after running a short distance, Edwards pulled out a firearm he was carrying on his hip. Edwards then fumbled the firearm, causing it to fall to the ground. Edwards immediately reached down and picked up the firearm, at which time he was SH0T by the pursuing deputy. Edwards was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Florida Couple Charged After 7-Year-Old Found Baby Sister Unresponsive. Jessie Waldroup, 36, and Desirae Uzunboylu, 27, face child neglect charges after their 6-month-old daughter was hospitalized with a blood alcohol level of 0.383, according to police. Their 7-year-old son found the baby unresponsive in her playpen when he returned from school on Sept. 8. An affidavit says both adults were asleep in the living room. Investigators learned that a relative had brought vodka to a family beach outing the day before in a water bottle. Waldroup and Uzunboylu told police it was possible that bottle had been used to prepare the baby’s bottle. They said they did not know how alcohol entered her system. Police said the relative reported his water bottle missing after returning from the water. Investigators also reported an alcohol smell from the baby’s feeding bottle. Medical staff told police the child’s condition could have been fatal if her brother had not found her and help had not been called. A 7-year-old recognized the emergency. Investigators are now asking how the adults missed what went into a 6-month-old’s bottle. Both parents posted bond and were released. The charges are allegations, and they are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Knoxville, Tennessee — Officers responded to a reported domestic situation involving a man, 25-year-old Jamauri Griffin, armed with a gµn at ex-girlfriend's home. Officers entered the home and announced themselves as KPD officers. Seconds later, they encountered Griffin armed with a handgµn, who then fired at a 23-year-old woman who was inside of the home. Officers fired in response, striking Griffin at least one time. Officers immediately requested medical assistance. Griffin was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the woman was transported to the hospital with a wound to the face. Her injuries were not life-threatening.

David McBride Jr., 24, was arrested after North Charleston police found damage to nine vehicles at an apartment complex on Sept. 17. Officers say the vehicles’ tires had been slashed. A window and a mailbox assembly were also damaged. A witness reported seeing a man walk through the complex damaging property, then later identified McBride as the person they had seen, according to police. Nine vehicles, a window and a mailbox. Police say this was a walk through the complex that left residents with a repair list. McBride faces 10 counts of malicious damage to property and was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center. The charges are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

Willoughby, Ohio — Officer Stacee Wright pulled over a driver, later identified as 64-year-old David Koubeck, for speeding when Koubeck stopped and got out of the car without being asked. Wright asked him to sit down, but Koubeck refused, eventually pointing his finger near her face and pushing her. Koubeck continued to refuse the officer’s orders, which led to a physical struggle. Four citizens stopped after seeing the road-side struggle. They helped restrain Koubeck until more Willoughby police officers arrived. Koubek was arrested on charges that include assaµlt on a police officer, resisting arrest, and speeding. Police said he was driving 57 in a 35 mph zone. The cop sounded like a mother talking to her disobedient child.

Darryl Getman, 83, and his wife, Sharon, 80, were st@bbed to death in their Mount Dora, Florida, home. The jury that convicted Vickie Williams of mµrder was scheduled to return Sept. 24 to consider whether to recommend life in prison or death. Jurors found Williams guilty Sept. 22 of two counts of first-degree mµrder and one count of theft after roughly 30 minutes of deliberations. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty. Williams' attorneys argued she was experiencing psychosis and didn't understand what she was doing. Prosecutors argued she knew right from wrong. Investigators said Williams visited the couple the night before their bodies were discovered in December 2022, asking to use their shower and charge her cellphone. The couple's car was missing when police found them mµrdered in their apartment. Sharon's cellphone was inside the missing car. Detectives used phone pings and license plate readers to track the vehicle to Savannah, Georgia, where Williams was arrested in January 2023.

Missouri Woman Charged in Fatal DWI Crash That Claimed a Doctoral Candidate. Lilly Belfield, 22, pictured on the right, has been charged in connection with the fatal Aug. 4 crash that took the life of 26-year-old Kennedy Reed and injured three passengers. Police say Belfield was speeding in a BMW SUV, passed another vehicle using a left-turn-only lane and ran a stop sign before striking Reed’s Mazda as Reed lawfully traveled through the intersection. According to the probable cause statement, Belfield admitted she was driving and intoxicated. Police said she and her passengers were headed to a concert when the crash occurred. Belfield faces DWI resulting in de@th, involuntary manslaughter and three counts of second-degree assaµlt. She was arrested Thursday and is being held without bond. Police say a trip to a concert became a fatal crash after a series of choices behind the wheel. Reed lost her life, and three others were injured. Reed was entering her fourth year as a Ph.D. candidate at Washington University. The university has established a scholarship in her memory that will help two students from Alcorn State University attend summer workshops.

Fort Lee, New Jersey — Police responded following a 911 call from a family member reporting that 42-year-old Mohamed Bounaouar was inside the home armed with a knife, acting in an aggressive manner, and cutting his own belongings. The family member further informed law enforcement, that, along with Bouanoaur, four other people were inside the dwelling. Fort Lee police officers spoke to the relatives still inside the home and asked them to isolate themselves in a room away from Bounaouar. Officers entered the townhouse and attempted to speak to Bounaouar from the bottom of a staircase. Later, relatives exited the house. With the assistance of law enforcement, all except one of the family members that lived in the home were able to leave. The family informed the officers that there was a family member on the third floor who was unable to exit, as Bounaouar was occupying the second floor. Throughout the morning, additional resources from the Fort Lee Police Department responded to the scene including crisis negotiators. Police continued attempting to negotiate with Bounaouar as items were being thrown down the stairs in the vicinity of officers and various items were being broken in the townhouse by Bounaouar. In an effort to get the remaining family member out of the third floor, additional officers were positioned on a neighboring balcony, adjacent to the balcony of the townhouse that Bounaouar was occupying. The Fire Department and law enforcement, using a bucket truck, attempted to remove the remaining family member from the townhouse’s third-floor window. During this effort, Bounaouar exited the residence onto his second-floor rear balcony. There, he moved in the direction of the officers who were on the neighboring balcony. Officer Emmanuel Espinal deployed a taser and Detectives John Gallo and Stephen Domenick discharged their firearms, striking Bounaouar. Officer Espinal then deployed his taser a second time. After hearing the gµnfire, the officers who had been posted at the bottom of the stairs, within the residence, ascended the staircase to the second floor. They found Bounaouar wounded and lying on the floor of the balcony. They ordered him to drop the knife, but he rose to his feet and began moving towards them while still holding the knife. At that point, Officers Matthew Lyle and Gabriel Avella discharged their firearms, striking Bounaouar. Officers then removed two knives located near Bounaouar. Emergency medical personnel rendered first aid at the scene. Bounaouar was pronounced deceased. One officer sustained an injury to his hand.

Fort Worth, Texas — An officer was dispatched to a home after the caller, 20-year-old Kaitlyn Balogun, told dispatchers she was “bleeding out” and that she wanted to harm herself, police said. The officer is seen knocking on the door before yelling “Police, open the door” twice. After the second time, Balogun opens the door and says “hello,” to which the officer responds “What’s going on? Talk to me.” Balogun then ran to pick up a knife that was on the floor, the video shows. The officer yells “Drop the knife — do it now” and the woman, crying, repeatedly pleads “SH00T me” and “please.” “I don’t want to SH00T you, drop the knife,” the officer says. According to Fort Worth PD, Balogun had the knife in a tight grip pointed at the officer, but the officer was at the edge of the staircase with no room to retreat further. The video shows the officer fire her gun, striking Balogun once in the hip. Balogun dropped the knife and fell backward in the apartment. The officer went into the apartment to provide aid. A second officer arrived just after the shooting. Balogun was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and was released from the hospital later that night. She was booked into the Tarrant County jail on a charge of aggravated assaµlt on a public servant.

Maryland Man, 87, Charged After Allegedly Confessing to Pastor About Roommate’s De@th. Irwin Dickstein, 87, faces first- and second-degree mµrder charges in the death of his roommate, 63-year-old Michael Bushnell. According to charging documents, a pastor at Frederick Christian Fellowship Church called police Sunday morning and reported that Dickstein had confessed. The man who drove Dickstein to church reportedly told investigators that Dickstein said he needed to speak with a pastor before admitting he had mµrdered his roommate. The driver also said Dickstein placed what appeared to be a f*rearm case in his trunk. After obtaining a search warrant, police allegedly recovered a Beretta handgµn from the case. Officers later found Bushnell deceased inside the bathroom of the roommates’ Franklin Street home. A neighbor told investigators the two men had argued after Bushnell turned off the electricity while repairing an outlet. The neighbor also reported hearing several loud bangs around 5:30 that morning. Dickstein allegedly went to church with a confession and a handgun case in the trunk. The pastor responded by calling police. Dickstein is being held without bond. An Oct. 13 hearing will determine whether he is competent to stand trial. The charges are allegations, and Dickstein is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

One man spit on officers and was transported to the Orange County jail where he was booked and charged with 2 counts of assaµlt on a police officer, public intoxication, and resisting officers with violence.

North Carolina Man Charged With Exposing. Christopher Roulo, 43, was arrested after investigators accused him of exposing himself along the shoulder of Andermora Road. Charging documents allege the Sept. 18 incident occurred in the presence of a 6-year-old child and two adults. Deputies say Roulo pulled away from a sheriff’s lieutenant and ran while officers investigated the report. What allegedly began on the shoulder of a public road ended with a foot chase, four charges and a secured bond. Roulo faces one felony count of indecent exposure in the presence of a minor, two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and one count of resisting a public officer. He was taken to the Onslow County Jail, where his bond was set at $10,000. The charges are allegations, and Roulo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

New York Man Claims Self-Defense After Two Bodies Were Stripped and Stuffed Into Trash Cans — Says “Everything Went Black.” Scott Mitchell, 51, is on trial for allegedly mµrdering Daniel McCloe, 58, and Marshall VanOven, 55, inside the basement of his Binghamton home in February 2025. Prosecutors say Mitchell str@ngled both men with a rope and strµck them with a wrench. Their bodies were allegedly stripped and concealed inside trash cans in his garage. Mitchell then allegedly moved McCloe’s truck, cleaned the scene and fled to Florida, where he was arrested nine days later. Taking the stand, Mitchell claimed the two men attacked and threatened him over a $1,700 debt. He testified that “everything went black” during the deadly confrontation and said he could not remember who he mµrdered first or where he obtained the weapons. His memory allegedly disappeared for the mµrders but returned in time for the cleanup, the trash cans, the relocated truck and the trip to Florida. Mitchell said he hid the bodies and cleaned the basement to prevent his 5-year-old stepson, who was upstairs, from seeing them. Prosecutors argue his account changed from what he initially told investigators. The defense maintains Mitchell acted in self-defense while experiencing extreme emotional disturbance. A defense psychologist diagnosed him with PTSD, while a prosecution psychiatrist testified that his use of multiple weapons suggested he retained self-control. Mitchell faces two counts of first-degree mµrder and one count of second-degree mµrder. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Texas Man Charged With Capital M*rder After 5-Year-Old Girl Was K*lled Inside the Family’s Car. Jeremy Porter, 47, has been arrested after authorities say a gµnman opened f*re on a vehicle carrying a mother and her five children Saturday night in Houston. Five-year-old Zah’Layah Walter was struck and did not survive. Her siblings were injured by broken glass but are expected to recover. Their mother, Monica Hicks, said there was no road-rage confrontation she had not cut anyone off or communicated with another driver before the attack. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said automated license plate readers helped detectives quickly develop critical information that led to Porter’s arrest. Five children were riding with their mother. One senseless act left a family without its youngest passenger. Porter is charged with capital m*rder and is scheduled for a preliminary court appearance Tuesday. Authorities have not announced a motive, and the investigation remains active.

Salt Lake police released body camera video from the two officers involved in a critical incident. Officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle. During the stop an officer fired his weapon and the driver, a 20-year-old male Tyler Keaton Webster, was struck. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

California Man Arrested Three Times in One Month Accused of K*lling Woman During Crime Spree — Manhunt Ends in Fatal SH00T0UT Derek Spencer, 44, was k*lled during an exchange of gµnfire with deputies after authorities say he launched a violent crime spree across Northern California. Investigators believe Spencer forced his way into the Iowa Hill home of 76-year-old Cheryl Macy and fatally SH0T her despite having no known connection to her. Authorities say Spencer also threatened people with a firearm, rammed a sheriff’s patrol vehicle, fired toward law enforcement and fled into rugged forestland. He is additionally suspected of stealing a vehicle and firearms, firing at another vehicle and starting the 18-acre Mineral Fire. A California Highway Patrol aircraft eventually located Spencer using infrared technology. Officials say he opened fire when tactical teams reached him and was fatally struck after allegedly firing toward deputies again. But here is the accountability question: Spencer had reportedly been arrested three times earlier that same month for allegations involving assaµlting an officer, burglary and vehicle the and was released after every arrest. Three arrests. Three releases. Then one woman deceased, a wildfire burning and multiple agencies participating in an armed manhunt. The revolving door did not merely spin it allegedly released a public-safety disaster back into the community. How was someone arrested three times within weeks still free long enough for authorities to say this crime spree happened?

Missouri Man Accused of K*lling Two Women Granted Change of Venue — But He Is Not Changing Jails Yet. Keevin J. Maupin has been charged with two counts of first-degree mµrder and two counts of armed criminal action in the deaths of Liberty Moore, 32, and Karen Babcock, 58. Authorities allege Maupin mµrdered both women inside a home several miles north of Skidmore in April. Since entering the Nodaway County Jail, Maupin has reportedly expanded his legal troubles by attempting to escape and allegedly assaulting jail employees on multiple occasions. Apparently, two mµrder charges were not enough paperwork so the jail stay allegedly came with bonus counts. Maupin’s request to move his trials to neighboring Atchison County was granted Sept. 17. Pretrial proceedings will remain in Nodaway County, where he will also remain jailed until trial. In other words, he received a new courtroom not a new address. His next review and plea-setting hearing is scheduled for Oct. 19. Maupin is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Can moving a high-profile double-mµrder trial one county away realistically provide an impartial jury?
